Election & Propaganda.

Elections are not only won at the ballot box.
They are won long before, in the minds of the people.

Narratives are framed, fears are amplified, half-truths are recycled, and repetition slowly begins to feel like fact.

This is how perception is engineered.
This is how consent is manufactured.

Today, social media is the most powerful campaign tool ever created.
No gatekeepers.
Algorithms reward outrage.

As Nigeria inches toward another critical election cycle, timelines are already becoming battlegrounds.

Coordinated hashtags.
Anonymous pages.
Influencers-for-hire.
Old videos, new captions.
Lies dressed as patriotism.
Truth struggling to breathe.

This is not new, but the scale is unprecedented.

As citizens, professionals, and stakeholders, media literacy is no longer optional.
Pause.
Verify.
Ask who benefits from the narrative being pushed.

Because in the end, power is never given.

It is prepared for, through stories we choose to believe or reject.

Nigeria will decide.
But first, Nigeria must think.

The Madness of Monetization: Has Social Media Stolen Our Sanity?

In the age of digital gold rush, where clicks pay and views translate to dollars, social media platforms; particularly Facebook, have opened the floodgates of monetization.

For creators, it's a welcome opportunity. For the culture? A growing concern.

Ever since monetization features like Ad Reels, in-stream ads, and bonuses rolled out globally, a wave of desperation-driven content has followed.

What once was a space for creativity, storytelling, or community-building has now, in many corners, become a theatre of shock value.

Couples publicly airing their dirty laundry. Mothers staging fake scenarios with children. GenZ girls baring it all-physically and emotionally, just for "ProBo" (Professional Bonus, as it's now called in some creator circles).

And what's worse? The more extreme the content, the more attention it receives. And with attention comes money.

But here's the bitter truth: viral content has a short life span, its consequences do not.

Tomorrow, that embarrassing video might be what a job recruiter, investor, or future partner finds. Those 10k likes today might cost you real-life respect tomorrow. Fame, after all, has never been cheaper. And reputation? Never more expensive.

Let's start asking the hard questions:

1. Is monetization pushing creators toward exploitation?

2. Should platforms do more to regulate harmful trends?

3. What’s the role of self-regulation in this madness?

So, what's the way forward?

A. Content is currency, but so is character. Let's not trade one for the other.
B. Monetize with meaning. Teach. Inspire. Entertain, yes. But do it without sacrificing your self-worth.

C. Think beyond the algorithm. Just because it trends doesn't mean it should be your brand.

D. Build legacy, not just virality. Aim to create content your future self, and future children, can be proud of.
