The narrative in Exodus 7 has been on my mind:
“The magicians did the same thing that God told Moses to do.”
That part is sobering.
It makes me think about how easily we quantify God's blessing by the things we can see—big houses, luxury cars, plenty money, designer clothes, large crowds at our gatherings, influence, titles, etc.
But unbelievers have these things too—and sometimes, they have much more.
The magicians could replicate the signs Moses performed through their enchantments, but they couldn't stop the plagues.
Therein lies the distinction.
It is not enough to produce what the world can also produce.
There must be something about us that only God can explain.
Our advantage cannot simply be wealth, influence, numbers, intelligence, connections or visible success.
There has to be fruit. There has to be power. There has to be character. There has to be transformation. There has to be an evidence of God that cannot be replicated by the systems of this world.
Because if everything about our lives can be explained by money, connections, strategy and human ability, then what exactly distinguishes the sons of God from the sons of the world?
SOLUTION:
We need to stop chasing the evidence that the world already has and start becoming the evidence that God is real.
The goal is not just to look blessed.
The goal is to carry something that the world cannot manufacture.
There must be something about us that only God can explain.
