EKITI POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN ARMED ROBBERY, RECOVER STOLEN MOTORCYCLES AND FIREARM;

On Sunday, 28th June 2026, at about 02:00hrs, a gang of four armed hoodlums invaded Ilokun community in Ado-Ekiti, where they robbed two residents at gunpoint. The suspects carted away four mobile phones, two laptop computers, assorted jewellery, the sum of Eight Million Naira (₦8,000,000.00), one Boxer Bajaj motorcycle, and one TVS motorcycle.

Following the report, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) activated investigation in collaboration with Ijero Divisional Police Headquarters' personnel and trailed the suspects to their location in a forest along Ayegunle Road, Ilogbo-Ekiti.

On sighting the Police team, the hoodlums opened fire on the operatives, resulting in a gun duel. The superior firepower and tactical response of the operatives forced the suspects to abandon some exhibits and flee into the thick forest. A thorough search of the scene led to the recovery of one locally made single-barrel gun, SIM cards removed from the victims' mobile phones, and the two stolen motorcycles.

The operation further resulted in the arrest of one Abdusalam Olalekan Ibrahim, who confessed to his involvement in the robbery during interrogation and mentioned four other members of the criminal gang currently at large. One of the Police operatives unfortunately sustained a gunshot injury and he is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP FALADE ADEGOROYE MICHEAL, has directed that intensive combing operations continue in the forest to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the remaining stolen items and other weapons in their possession.

The CP commends the bravery, professionalism and resilience displayed by the operatives during the operation and assures members of the public that every effort is being made to bring all those connected with the crime to justice, while reiterating that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property.

_EKITI STATE POLICE FOIL ARMED ROBBERY OPERATION, RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIMS, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS AND RECOVER STOLEN PROPERTY_

The Ekiti State Police Command, through an intelligence-led policing, has recorded another significant operational success with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers, the rescue of two abducted victims, and the recovery of stolen property.

In the early hours of Monday, 29th June 2026, at about 03:00hrs, a gang of three armed hoodlums attacked a faulty petrol tanker along the Ikole–Oye Road. The hoodlums robbed the driver and his motor boy of their mobile phones before abducting them into a nearby bush, where they tied both victims to a tree.

The suspects subsequently returned to the tanker, removed six truck tyres, and loaded them into an ash-coloured Ford minibus, intending to flee towards Kogi State.

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted the vehicle, recovered all the stolen tyres, and arrested two suspects identified as Ezekiel Balogun and Usman Wada, both of Kabba, Kogi State. One other suspect escaped and is currently at large.

The arrested suspects led the police operatives to the bush where the abducted driver and his motor boy were rescued unharmed.

The case has been transferred to the Command Violent Crime Response Unit(VCRU) for discreet investigation, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring all those involved to justice.

EKITI POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTED BURGLARS, RECOVER STOLEN PROPERTY

The Ekiti State Police Command under the leadership of CP FALADE ADEGOROYE MICHEAL has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained efforts to rid the State of criminal elements with the arrest of four suspected burglars and the recovery of items stolen from a residential apartment in Ado-Ekiti.

On Thursday, 25th June, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m., one a complainant reported at the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Office that unknown persons had burgled her residence around Similoluwa Street, Ado-Ekiti, and carted away valuable items, including clothes, gold jewellery, an iPhone 13 Plus, a power bank and other personal belongings valued at approximately Two Million Naira (₦2,000,000.00).

Upon receipt of the complaint, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad immediately visited the scene and launched a comprehensive investigation. The swift and intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of the principal suspect, one Ayomide Samuel.

During interrogation, the suspect made useful confessions which led to the arrest of his accomplices, identified as Ogundare Moses, Akeju Adedara and Hassan Muhammed.

Subsequent searches conducted at the residences of the suspects resulted in the recovery of part of the stolen property, including a black power bank and ten different items of clothing reasonably suspected to have been stolen.

The four suspects are currently in custody undergoing further investigation, while efforts are being intensified to recover the remaining stolen items and apprehend any other accomplices connected with the crime.

They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

_EKITI POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR BURGLARY, RECOVER STOLEN BUILDING MATERIALS_

The Ekiti State Police Command, through its Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), has arrested two suspected burglars and recovered stolen building materials during a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation in Ado-Ekiti.

The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that some hoodlums had been terrorising residents of Ile Aanu Quarters/Imole Oluwa Community, Abayamedi, off Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti, through acts of burglary and theft.

Acting on the intelligence, the Command immediately deployed a team of VCRU detectives for intensive surveillance within the affected area. At about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 25th June 2026, the team intercepted and arrested two suspects while they were conveying building materials reasonably suspected to have been stolen.

The suspects, identified as Omoyajowo Anu, 27 years, and Obere Dare, 35 years, were found in possession of two imported water closets believed to have been removed from a burgled building.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to breaking into a residential building and stealing the items. Detectives subsequently visited the scene for assessment, while the recovered exhibits have been registered and taken into police custody.

Efforts are ongoing to identify and contact the owner of the affected property, while investigations have been intensified to uncover other members of the criminal syndicate and recover additional stolen property.

The attention of the Ekiti State Police Command has been drawn to a distress information circulating on the social media that a full bus conveying passengers from Ado-Ekiti was kidnapped along Aramoko-Ekiti road on 31st May, 2026.

The Command, upon the receipt of the disturbing information, deployed intelligence and tactical operatives to that axis to confirm its authenticity and for necessary actions if true. It was then gathered that the alarm was false, created and spread by criminally minded individuals to cause unnecessary panic and discredit the efforts of the security agencies in the State as well as the government in ensuring adequate safety for the citizens.

It has come to the notice of the Command that there is an intentional and a coordinated plan by some individuals to start creating and spreading false alarms about bandits attack, kidnapping, amongst others in the State. It would be recalled that the State has recorded numerous fake news and false alarms in the past few weeks. This is unacceptable and must be frowned at. *PRESS RELEASE:* MISCONDUCT; Ekiti State Police Command dismisses Officer.

The Ekiti State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that it has concluded the psychological and medical test, as well as the disciplinary procedures of one Sergeant Osayingbemi Temitope, who was found behaving erratically in a video circulating on the Social media.

The unfortunate and ridiculous incident happened at Ikole-Ekiti on the 9th of May, 2026 after the Officer allegedly consumed some illicit drugs. He was immediately subjected to a medical test and a psychological evaluation.

The psychological evaluation revealed that the Officer is emotionally stable. Meanwhile, the medical test showed that the Officer tested positive for To***co and Amphetamine. During further enquiries, the Officer confessed to have taken some illicit drugs.

Internal disciplinary procedures have been concluded and the Officer has been found culpable. He was recommended for dismissal and the recommendation upheld. The Command hereby, confirms his dismissal which shall take immediate effect.

The Command states that the Force remains a disciplined organization, and will not tolerate any act of indiscipline, unprofessional practice or any act that could ridicule the image of the Force.

The Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), Ekiti State, today being 14th May, 2026, held a stakeholder meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants for the forthcoming primaries for the Federal House of Representatives, slated for 15th May 2026.

The meeting, which was held at the Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti, had in attendance the ICCES Chairman and Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) INEC, Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police and Co-Chairman, ICCES, Ekiti State, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, and other ICCES members, as well as the aspirants.

Addressing the gathering, the REC and Chairman, ICCES, Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, stated that the meeting was necessary to ensure peaceful, free, fair, and credible primaries. He implored the aspirants to shun the use of thugs, hate speeches, and all acts that could cause the breakdown of law and order before, during, and after the elections.

Also speaking, the Co-Chairman, ICCES, and Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, revealed that the gathering was as a result of an intelligence received that some aspirants have concluded plans to cause mayhem during and after the primaries. He charged everyone to embrace peace, as those found in acts that could jeopardize a peaceful conduct will be made to face the wrath of the law.

*PRESS RELEASE*: _ALLEGED EXTORTION_ ; Ekiti State Police Command declares allegation as false, as discreet investigation is underway.

The Ekiti State Police Command has noticed an allegation circulating on the social media against the Personnel of Ikole Divisional Police Headquarters, where they were alleged of arresting some individuals from Ikole-Ekiti for sharing a video where a Police Officer was under the influence of illicit drugs while on duty. The allegation states further that the arrested individuals were asked to bail themselves with an amount ranging from ₦20,000 to ₦200,000.

While the Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, has ordered a thorough investigation into the allegation, preliminary investigation reveals that nobody was arrested or in custody in respect to the aforementioned incident and allegation.
Furthermore, no amount of money was demanded or collected from anyone as alleged.

The Command wishes to state clearly that the four suspects arrested by Ikole Divisional Police Headquarters was based on illicit drug sales, with exhibits recovered. The suspects arrested were investigated and charged to Court.

The Command calls for calm, as investigation is underway to unearth other underlining issues in relation to the allegation, while also imploring citizens to always verify the information they believe and share on social media.

The Command will continue to prioritize the security of lives and properties of all citizens, maintain law and order, respect the rights of citizens and ensure professionalism, integrity, rule of law and justice in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.
