Topic:"RECEIVE YE THE HOLY GHOST POWER FOR SERVICE". Acts 2:1-4
To God Almighty be all the glory for another Pentecost Sunday in his presence. On this day, the Church was formally launched.
The promised Holy Spirit by Christ Jesus came upon all his disciples as he had promised them.
They had cloven tongues of fire on their head which was how the Holy Spirit chose to descend on them.
The power of the Holy Spirit on them was evidenced by speaking of various tongues. They spoke in tongues of men and the men who came from far away places for the Pentecost Feast heard them clearly speaking in their languages even though they were only Jews who they know cannot speak their languages.
Some assumed they were drunk.
But St. Peter, the Apostle rose and spoke disputing the fact that they can't be drunk since it was still early morning.
He gave the message of repentance, salvation, born again. Those who accepted Christ Jesus were baptized in water. Their number that day stood at 3000 persons.
Holy Spirit is still available today. What happened was the baptism of fire as prophesied.
Are you ready to receive the Holy Ghost? This is power for service!
Reception of the Holy Ghost is what the Bishop prays for when he lays his hands on Confirmation candidates.
The coming of the Holy Spirit on the disciples confirmed their Christianity.
This is why confirmation by the Archbishop or Bishop is important.
Later, after the first day that the Holy Ghost came, The Apostles were usually sent to go and lay hands on believers for the in filling of the Holy Ghost for them to be baptized by fire of the Holy Ghost as well as receive power to preach the gospel.
The Holy Ghost is the power available for us to preach the gospel better. Do everything necessary in the Church including doing Confirmation by the Archbishop after baptism in water to have it. This is very necessary.
