The tears ran down his eyes as he forgot he was a man...he forgot he was supposed to be strong and act like a man.

But Osita could not. The thought of his wife,still in labour pains without any one to attend to her was overwhelming. He forgot to be a man as he walked under the hot sun hopelessly.

He has been turned down by two of his friends already. He stopped under a shade,and buried his face in his hands, cleaning his tears away only for more to rush.

"God...where are you! Where are you my God! Why have you forsaking Ifeoma your daughter and I?

Have we really sinned against you this much? Please send a helper o Lord..." Osita cried. He suddenly remembered a friend who sold motor parts in the street and decides to go to him.....to try his last luck.

Ifeoma's cries rang out through the whole hospital as she held unto her stomach in pains. She shouted at the nurses to help her but they ignored her.

She was dying in pains and the baby was already near.

"Osita mu ooo! Where are you eeeh! God why are you doing this to me! Is this how I'm going to die?" Ifeoma cried as she knelt on the floor of the lobby.

People looked at her, feeling sympathy for her but none of them helped the woman.

Ifeoma crawled on the floor and held unto a nurse's leg, crying out for help.

"Please...I'm dying! Help me!" Ifeoma cried. The pain was becoming too much for her to bear.

"Madam...I'm sorry but we can't help you until payment is being made by your relatives. I'm sorry." The nurse said and struggled out of Ifeoma's hold.

Ifeoma began to sing in her teary voice but no one came to her rescue.

She managed to stand up, bending over as she left the lobby..... straight out of the hospital with her phone ...hoping to contact Osita.

Just as he feared,the friend had turned him down. Osita was devastated as he walked in the road. He was already losing his mind as he walked like a ghost, unaware that his phone was seriously ringing.

Ifeoma was bending over and clutching her big stomach,beside an uncompleted building, dialling Osita's number but no one was picking. Ifeoma cried and put a hand on her head as she dialled the number again.

Still no answer.

She felt the baby's head hitting her Virgina and screamed.... pushing.
She stopped pushing when she saw she was making no progress and collapsed on the floor, looking around as she breathed life and death. Her phone slipped away from her hand.
She thought of finding somewhere secluded and have the baby herself.

"Osita....I'm dying..where are you?"

Osita was lost in his own world as he thought about how David,the husband to Ifeoma's twin sister had turned him down,saying there was no money.

All efforts to reach Ijeoma proved abortive. Even though Ijeoma never liked her twin sister...she would have helped out this time around,right?

"Aahh...David...why?" Osita asked and walked into the express road without looking.

Those were his last words on Earth as an over speeding car threw him up in the sky and knocked him down.

His blood splashed around the road as people screamed.

He died instantly...with his eyes...opened wide at the wicked world.

His spirit rise up gently out of the body and stared around the world in shook. He stared at his in bloody body and at the people, shaking his head.... couldn't believe he was gone.

No...no....no....no!! His voice echoed as he disappeared among the clouds.

"Aaaaaaaa!! Hmmmmm mm!!" Ifeoma cried as she groaned pushing out her baby. But she needed an extra hand to pull the baby and put it in order.

Ifeoma grabbed at her scattered hair, pushing again as blood poured out, around her leg.

Just then,a nurse rushed along kneeling beside her.

She has followed Ifeoma as she left the hospital for her conscience couldn't allow her leave the woman to her problem.

"Madam! Oh my God! The baby's head is out! Hey!! Esther,the nurse shouted as she held Ifeoma.

"Please... please.... help...me.." Ifeoma cried weekly. She was losing her breath.

"I will! I will!" Esther shouted as she looked around and saw an uncompleted building close. She helped Ifeoma up as they walked towards the building.

"Okay now...take a deep breath and when I say push....make sure you give it your best!" Esther said hurriedly as she looked into Ifeoma's opened legs. She held her legs and shouted at her to push.

Ifeoma drew in a deep breath and pushed,her voice so loud and heavy..
The baby's head finally came off and Esther smiled triumphantly, breathing in quickly as she shouted push again.

Ifeoma cried it and with hwr last strength,she pushed out the baby's body and collapsed back in the floor of the uncompleted building.

"Yes! Yes! Madam...you...you did it!" Esther said as tears ran down her face as she stared at the lovely face of the crying little baby in her arms.

"Madam... it's a baby girl....you have a baby girl!" Esther said, peering down at Ifeoma.

Ifeoma smiled up at the little infant and as she raised her hand to touch her baby, Ifeoma's eyes widened as her breath seized. Her hand dropped back unto the floor. She tried talking as Esther called her but she couldn't.

Before Esther could do anything more... Ifeoma's eye lashes shut down as her body became limp.

"Madam?" Esther called."Madam?" She called again but Ifeoma had stopped breathing....she was dead.

Esther put down the crying baby and bent over Ifeoma putting her ear in her chest.

"Jesus Christ!" Esther exclaimed as she moved back.

Ifeoma's spirit rose slowly from her body as she stared down at her baby. She cried out blood as she disappeared.

Esther stared at the new baby,still covered in blood..on the ground and covered her mouth with her hand.

What was she going to do with the baby? The mother was dead....who is she going to take the baby to?

Should she take the baby home?

Esther went forward to carry the baby but backed off again. No! No!...she had a little son to take care of too.....but as she stood up to go...she knew she would never be able to leave the baby there.

She turned again to go.

Her innocent cries continued to touch her soul...the deepest part of her heart....and Esther saw herself.... going back.... going back toward the baby...with a flood of tears on her face...........

Episode 22.
*******Angela’s mother have been finding it difficult
to take care of her children,… Angela was no longer
there to take up her responsibilities,…. She was
forced to sit up and take care of her children, no
one was ready to help her except Beatrice her friend
who had become her saviour,…. There was no food
in the house and she was about going to the market
to buy food on credit when her friend arrived
carrying foodstuffs,.. She was surprised to see her.
“Ahhh, ahhh, Beatrice,where’re you taking all these
things to? “she asked her friend who was smiling
sheepishly at her.
”they’re all yours,… I went to the market to buy
things for my family, so i decided to buy yours too
since you would be needing them,… ”
”That’s very kind of you,.. Ever since the
disappearance of my daughter, you’ve been helping
my family financially,….. May God bless you ”.
”what are friends for?, i’ll do anything to put a
smile on your face,…….. ”
She called Eric and his siblings and they packed
everything inside the house,…. They sat down
outside to chat.
”Mama Angela, what are your plans for these
children, they have been at home since their father
died,… Dont you think they need to return to school?
“Beatrice asked her friend looking concerned.
”My sister, i dont sleep at all, i’ve been thinking
about them and their future, but i don’t have money
to send them to school, we can barely eat,….. If not
for you, we would have died of hunger,….. I’m
planning to send Eric to Warri to stay with my
maternal uncle as an apprentice,…. ”
”God forbid! ,…. That will never happen,… You know
what?, send Eric to the school close to the clinic let
him make enquiries on their registration,… I’ll pay
for their registration fees”.
Mama Angela couldn’t believe her ears,…
“Did you get another job in Government house?,
where will you get money to pay for their fees” She

The door to her room opened and the old woman
walked in,….

“My daughter I don’t know who you are, i picked
you from an accident scene on my way back from
the village,… I’ve already pasted your pictures on
social media to help your people locate you,….”
She held the woman so tight.
“pls ma, dont tell them where i am, i feel my life is
in danger,… Dont tell them about my whereabout yet
ma, i’m scared,….. Plsss” Angela begged her.
“But i’ve already pasted your pictures on social
media, they will soon start calling me,… I didn’t tell
them where you are, i just pasted only your pictures
“she explained to Angela who was now crying.
” Mama,. If anyone calls because of me, just ignore
them, i’ m scared, pls help me.
“Ok my daughter i’ll do as you said”.

pictures of Angela lying down in a hospital bed,…
“Is this not Angela? “she asked Richard.

Richard took the nmber without wasting time and
dialed it,……
It was ringing but no picking, after several attempts,
the old woman picked.
“Hello, good day ma,” he greeted almost screaming
on the phone.
“Hello, who am i speaking with?,”
“Ma, i called on behalf of Angela, the girl you
posted missing on RepNaija.com,…. ”
”Yes, what can i do for you”
The old woman remembered Angela’s pleas,
“I’m Ric………..”the woman didnt allow him to end
his last statement before cutting the phone.
“God!!!!!, she cut the phone,… ”
,….. Maybe it’s network,….. Call the number again”
Nancy told him.
He called more than twenty times but it was ringing
no picking,… Then the phone was later switched
off…….

*My Father Impregnated me*
Mum could not fulfil her promise to come home every weekend. Some months, she only came once and sometimes twice. I became hostile in the house and everyone knew something was wrong but no one among my sisters was matured enough to investigate further.
I perfected my plans to poison my dad but that was not easy. On two occasions, I had planned to put the poison in his food but I will discard it again. Seeing him got me irritated. I wished he could die of accident or one mysterious thing but none of these happened.
For three months, I rarely talk to my dad even though we lived under the same roof with me. All the time mum visited, she never suspected anything because I put up pretentious attitudes that looked like all was well. I will enter my shell again as soon as she returns back to Ibadan.
My dad became depressed because of the happenings around. Nike that used to be his close friend became his arch enemy. My sisters started withdrawing from him because they saw me withdrew too. My dad became an addicted drunkard. He started going to club houses just to suppress his depression. I pitied him and talk to him casually. Life returned back to him and he began to pick up again. But our relationship had gone sour. He was buying me different gifts just to pacify me but all that was nothing. My desire to take his life got stronger by the day. I was loosing concentration in school because of what my dad did to me.
On Sunday, our pastor gave a powerful sermon on “forgiveness”. He highlighted seven reasons why forgiveness will do you good than whom you are forgiving. The sermon was so touching that I had no option than to drop my murderous plan. Pastor made an altar call for those who need grace to forgive those who had hurt them. I jumped out and he prayed for us. The prayer was like lifting a heavy rock off my chest. I became light and free. I wish I could die that moment and just go to heaven straight to rest from the trouble of this world. I got home that day and prepared my dad’s favourite food just to communicate my forgiveness to him. Nike, I am grateful you have forgiven me; he held my hand as I served him his food to whisper to my ear.
On Monday, my dad bought me a big phone he ordered from the UK. He knew how much I desired to own a phone but mum will not allow him buy me one. This girl is too young to own a phone, mum had warned dad several times. If you buy her a phone I will smash it on the floor, mum threatened. She insisted none of us will own a phone until we are eighteen. But all my friends in school have phones yet they concentrated on their studies. It was never a distraction like mum painted. I loved the phone dad bought for me because all my friends in school who had intimidated me with theirs began to respect me when they saw mine.
I was enjoying my phone for three months and mum didn’t know I own a phone. When she’s around I put it off, remove the battery and hide it all through until she had gone.
As I was gaining my dad’s confidence, he struck again. This time he drugged me and r***d me. In my sleep I had a dream a man came and force himself into me. He beat me up after he r***d me and warned me never to tell anybody again or else he will kill me with his machete. In the dream, I cried in pain until I woke up and noticed the pain all over my body. I couldn’t lift my hands nor legs. My dad did it again.

refused to marry another man,… Thank God death
took her away from him,…. I resurfaced and took
what belongs to me,….. But then i couldn’t bear a

took up my anger on your mother and you her

Richard was still shocked,…. He didnt know when

Her phone rang and she picked immediately,
”Hello,….. You have seen her house, that’s very
good,… You’re doing a good job,… Remember dont
leave any trace,… Just pick her around 3pm,…
Remember you’re to act like a taxi driver,….. Tell
her Richard is admitted in a hotel that he sent you
to pick her up….. “she instructed the person on
phone.” what if she tries communicating Richard, ,……
That would be risky,”, she thought to her self,…….
she thought of a good idea,.
“If she tries to communicate him, or refuses to
enter the car, , use the substance on her,.. Am i
clearly understood,?, ”
She cut the and let out a sign of relief, she felt
pains all over her face,…. She went to her room to
attend to the bruises on her face.

Richard got home tired and angry, he couldn’t
believe the woman he called mummy for years was
not his biological mother,… He decided not to
reveal that to his sister yet,…. He remembered how
that woman have been treating them badly, not
seeking after their happiness,…. … He called his friend and told him what his so

bothered about his family’s safety and couldn’t
sleep at night……. .

waiting in front of Angela’s compound when they

When they reached a lonely part,………. The driver
noticed a car trailing them,… He increased his car
speed,……. Angela was scared when she noticed
what was happening,…. They were so unlucky
because the hoodlums over took them and blocked
their way,….. They used their gun on the driver’s
head and he passed out,….. They used a substance
on Angela’s face, and she was just staring at them,
…. They pushed her into their car and zoomed off,

waiting for them,…… They soon arrived with Angela,

incantations and was shocked at what she saw,…..

her to Lagos,… How will that be possible this
evening? ,… “mrs Johnson asked looking disturbed.

be taken to Lagos right away!!!! ,……. ”
”What about me?, will i also go to Lagos? “mrs
Johnson asked.
” You Must be in Lagos before dusk tomorrow,….. ”
Angela was just staring at everyone, she wasn’t
aware of what was happening around her,…..
Mrs Johnson instructed her boys to take Angela to
Lagos immediately, she promised to be in Lagos
the next day,…

”My son,..how’re you?, ….. Angela didnt bother
calling me to inform me she arrived your house
safely,… I’m happy you called,. . Pls can i talk to
her? ”
Richard was confused, he doesn’t know what to do,

”ma,… Emmm,…… she’s in the bathroom, she’ll call
you later,…… Take care of yourself and the
children….. , good night”
He called Desmond and informed him of his worst
fear,….
“Are you sure that woman doesn’t have a hand in
this,…Angela have been kidnapped,… We still
haven’t heard from the taxi driver that went to pick
her,….. “Desmond asked.
” I cant report to the police, we need to wait for
24hours before reporting,….. I’m going crazy,… What
will i tell her mother, that poor woman just lost her
husband and now her daughter,….. God i’m finished,
…. Where will i look for her now?,…. “ Richard
asked.
”I’m just as confused as you are,…. Calm down, if
we dont find her after tomorrow, we shall inform her
mother,…. “Desmond advised him.
Richie cried for his girlfriend throughout the night,…
He drank himself to stupor,.. He slept on the floor,

Mum was promoted to the position of a Branch Manager and was transferred to Ibadan to head a new branch. This was what she had worked for all these years. Becoming a Branch Manager was her utmost dream for many years. Mum was so happy with her new position but the transfer did not go well with dad and all of us. She never gave dad opportunity to protest her transfer when she started making out her plans. Within two weeks, mum had contacted an agent in Ibadan through a colleague who got her a two bedroom flat in the outskirts of Ibadan. When mum left for Ibadan I knew it was a journey to marital desolation for dad.
“I don’t want to say anything because you may think I don’t want your progress but leaving your family at this time is not healthy”, my dad protested. “So what should I have done? Resign the job or reject the offer? The position I have laboured for all through the years? This is God’s open door and I can’t afford to throw it away. Instead of you to rejoice with me, you are here talking about family. All our children are all grown and Nike can take care of her sisters well. I will always come home for weekend.” My mum replied as she ordered Faith and Christy to move her things into the waiting van outside. We are surely not going to miss mum because her temporary exit from the house will give us a level of freedom and peace. We will be free from her nagging and troubles.
That night mum left for Ibadan, my dad came into my room like the other time. From his eyes you could see lust and determination to get what he wanted. “Please daddy, don’t do this to me. I thought you said you love me? Why will you be the one to take away my virginity? Please daddy! Please daddy!! Please daddy!!!” All my begging fell on deaf ears as my dad forced himself into me. mother have realized the importance of a man in
the family,…. She blames herself for her husband’s
death,… She could have averted what happened,….
But she cared less about her husband,…. She
remembered how he used to surprise her with gifts
when they were rich,…she doesn’t sleep at night,….
She cries to her husband begging him to forgive her
of all her wrong doings,…..
“Dim oma(my beloved husband), i know you’re
angry with me,… Please find a place in your heart to
forgive me,.. I saw your gloomy look the day you
returned from work, but i didnt bother asking you,
….. She allowed tears flow down her chics,…… I
ignored you,… I never knew you were in pains,…. I
left you in the hands of death,…… My husband,…. If
only you had survived, i would’ve shown you the
good wife in me,…. My life is incomplete without
you,…. Please find a place in your heart to forgive
me,… I’m sorryyyyyyyy” she sobbed uncontrollably
in the room holding her husband’s picture,……..
Angela entered and saw her mother’s condition,..
She sat on the bed beside her.
“Mummy, do you want to die with daddy and
abandon us in this world, do you want to make us
orphans?, mummy we need you now that daddy is
no more here”
“My daughter, i’m sorry for being a bad mother,…..
I thought the world is a bed of roses,. Now i know
what it means to be a widow,….. I’m now a widow,
… “mother and daughter cried themselves to sleep.

Richard tried his best to be always there for his
girlfriend and her family,….. He helped with the
burial arrangements,…… Date for the burial was
fixed,…..
Daddy Joe was buried one month after his death,
Richard made sure Angela lacked nothing for the
burial,….. He lodged in a good hotel in Ogwashi
ukwu with his friend Desmond,..they spent two days
before returning to Asaba,….. After the burial,… It
was decided that Angela’s mother would stay in the
village with her mother in law, Angela concluded to
return to Asaba alone to continue with her teaching
job,….
Angela noticed that she was sick throughout her
stay in the village,….She was intelligent enough to
dictate that she was pregnant,…. signs of pregnancy
were written all over her body,… She visited her
village clinic and it was confirmed she is pregnant,

“Angel, how’s your mother and your siblings?, you

concerned voice
” I’m fine, there’s something important i want to
discuss with you,…. I will visit you tomorrow ”.

Richard was really worried about Angel,.. He was
scared about what she wanted to tell him on phone,
….. His phone rang, Vanessa was calling.
”hello, Richie, how’re you? “she asked over the
phone
”I’m fine,… How’s your hubby and my cuties? ”
” They’re fine,… ”
” So how’s daddy, hope he’s improving? ”
” He’s improving greatly, my pastor has been
praying for him,….. He revealed many things to me,
… Can you believe mummy is a member of a secret
cult,… She used daddy’s brain in exchange for
power,…. The man of God promised to save daddy
from her evil plans”,….
“I’m not surprised,…… I swear i’ll deal with that
woman,… How could she be so wicked?,…. ”
” Richie please calm down,… Dont take any action

He was angry after talking to his sister, he decided
to confront his mother later in the evening on his
way back from work.

Mrs Johnson was on her way to visit her friend
when Mother Supreme supreme called her to rush
down to her place with immediate effect,…… She
reversed her car and rushed off immediately,….
“I told you that an event will occur in the life of
your son and the source of his happiness,…. that
girl is pregnant,….. We need her foetus to apease

She called her boys immediately she left the place.
Richard received an important call,.. He was to
travel to Benin the next morning for an important
meeting,…. He called Angela and told her of his
engagement the next day and decided to send a
taxi to pick her up in the afternoon because he
would return very late from Benin,..
He drove down to his father’s house to confront his
mother,…… He packed the car infront of the gate
and rushed inside,….. He held the doorknob open
when he heard his mother talking to someone on
the phone.
“I’ll make Richard pay for taking his daddy away
from me,.. He wants to ruin me but i’ll ruin him
first,…. I’ll destroy that his girlfriend, he thinks he’s
smart, my boys are doing a great job,… I made her
father loose her job,… And i’ll make life miserable
for her,…. By the time i’m done with Vanessa and
Richard, they will learn not to touch the lion’s tail,
….she heard a noise on the door….. She paused“., i
think there’s someone at the door, i’ll call you later.
”
She cut the call and looked up only to see Richard
standing before her.
”Mummy, what did we do to you,?, why are you
wicked to us,…. Why do you want to ruin us,….
What did Angela do to you? “Richard asked her
looking teary.
” Yes, i want to ruin you,… I’ll kill all of you if you
dont return your daddy to me,… I’lll ruin you all!!!!!!
“she thundered at him.
” Mummy why!, why! Why! “he asked holding the
collar of her shirt.
”Because i’m not your biological mother!!!!!!!!!!!! She
screamed at him.
Richard stared at her for five minutes,
“I know you’re angry right now,.. And you can say
anything in anger,…. I want to believe you said this
out of annoyance,… You gave birth to me and raised
me up, you’re my biological mother right?,…. Look
straight into my eyes and tell me the truth”.
”I am not your biological mother,…. I’m your
father’s second wife,… Your mother died giving birth
to you,….!!!!!! ”
Richard was lost,… He sat down on the couch and
stared into the air,……
