Three Years and Counting ❤️

It’s been three years, Dad… and the truth is, though we didn’t always see eye to eye, I wish you were here.

The childhood years were tough, and our differences ran deep.

Yet, with time and perspective, I’ve come to understand that greatness often comes wrapped in imperfection.

Your legacy, however, remains undeniable — one that will not be erased even 100 years from now.

Your passion for success and your unwavering principles preceded you.

I learned more about you during the speeches at your funeral than I ever realized growing up cos I left home as a child.

But nothing compares to witnessing firsthand your sheer determination, your quest for success & impact.

At about 40 years old, already a successful engineer, you decided to become a lawyer.

Against all odds, and every piece of advice — even Mom’s pleas for you to slow down — you sold some of the houses you had already acquired and went back to school.

You not only completed the degree but graduated top of your class, winning the top Prizes in Law through to Law School!!

And when you finished, you refused to work for anyone.

People thought you had lost your mind. I did too.

But you opened your own law chambers — and I was your first secretary, though reluctantly then.

Little did I know I was sitting in the front row of history.

Today, your name remains etched among giants. Your peers called you “the Legal Gagatuan” — a voice to be reckoned with.

Your brilliance will shine forever, and I’m proud to have been blessed by such a covering of excellence, passion, focus and tenacity.

Rest well, Dad.

You ran your race and finished it well.

May you and Mom continue to rejoice in glory with Jesus.

Forever your son,
Nosakhare

Happy New Year to you and your family.

In this New Year of Grace and Power, 2024, I pray for massive blessings upon you, your household, your enterprise and everything that concerns you.

For my annual Message of Power, Hope and Resilience, click on https://youtu.be/mO1cXLEDo4Q?si=ncbQ7zp0yXYllpoo

We step into a New Year in one of the most terrible and turbulent times in the history of humanity.

We step into a New Year with the highest rates of undue deaths like suicides, divorce, racism, hate, wars, terrorism, hunger, maladies, and all the ills known to man.

Therefore, like many people who still have a conscience around the world, my soul aches for our generation and the next and the next and the next.

My heart resonates deeply with the struggles faced by countless souls worldwide, as the shadows of conflict and warfare loom large, often obscured by the self-interests of greedy executives and politicians, causing immeasurable suffering in the hearts and homes of many people and robbing innocent lives of their rights, privileges, dreams and future.

Yet, amidst these historic trials of our time, my message to you this year is to not surrender hope for a better tomorrow, one where dreams thrive for our families and ourselves.

Amidst these trials, I implore you to not relinquish hope, to fiercely guard your dreams and aspirations, and to refuse to let adversity steal the immeasurable possibilities that lie within you and your families.

As you get inspired by the full message on my YouTube channel, let us unite in prayers for a world where compassion triumphs & humanity flourishes.

It was a great pleasure to speak at the 2023 Annual Law Week of the Edo State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), a group of brilliant legal minds across the state.

The title of message was Law & Leadership: The Bridge for Equitable Justice. I shared tips, tools and techniques to become and remain an exceptional leader.

The basic but rare principles of exceptional leadership apply to every other profession and aspect of life.

So whether you are a lawyer or not, these keys to exceptional leadership which I expatiated in my book, The Mystique of Leadership, are bound to challenge your thought process and ignite in you, the quest to be and do more for yourself and humanity.

I also talked about the Law Reports of Courts of Nigeria, an organization that was founded by my father in 1991, one of the brightest legal minds of his era.

As the new Managing Director of the organization, I come with the same passion and prudence as my father, with the unwavering objective of equipping lawyers and judicial institutions with prompt access to Supreme Court judgements.

I reminded the group of lawyers, judges and magistrates about the correlation between their prestigious profession and social justice; how law as a profession initially started as pro bono services for the downtrodden and oppressed.

To be empowered and inspired by the message and how to use the five strategies I spoke about to transform your life, family, business and ministries, visit https://youtu.be/OBzaAkUZ-Qo

Life & Leadership Lessons from the Brilliant Legal Legend: Anthony Efe Ogbeide-Ihama, Esq.

#2 - BE A GROUNDBREAKING VISIONARY

I saw my dad for the first time yesterday … in his lifeless form, that is. It was heart wrenching; a tormenting and surreal experience, such an intense irrational reality for anyone to go through.

But it reminded me that we are nothing but like the morning fog—it’s here for a little while, then it’s gone, as Apostle James rightly said in its epistle.

Dad’s lifeless body reminded me that everyone has a purpose in life, a vision and a dream; many just don’t know it yet.

It reminded me that while others may do and yet are doing nothing about it, many more are not making enough effort to achieve these three critical aspects of fulfillment.

When dad decided to become a lawyer, it wasn’t to simply practice law as millions of lawyers do around the world. It was to change the dynamics of it and make it easier for those in the profession to excel.

His vision was so strong in his heart that his mind must have been working around the clock. Of course, he worked with some lawyers initially to gain experience but quickly left to turn his car garage into his first law office and made me his first legal secretary while I was still in high school.

This kicked off my career, so to speak, and I learned a lot. I was also quite impressed by the professionalism which he chose and handled the line up of well paying clients.

I also remember the opposition he got from friends and families when he decided to quit his first legal job to start his chambers. Little did we know he was driven by a vision so strong that it would eventually become a legacy.

According to one Senior Advocate or Nigeria (SAN), “Your father did not only want to be a lawyer in his old age, but came into the profession with a fierce determination to leave a lasting impact and legacy in it …. and he did!”

Another said, “When your dad holds on to a principle, whether agreeable or now, he will neither negotiate on it nor let it go for any reason whatsoever.”

What about you, my friend?

Yes, you reading this right now?

How massive is your vision about what God has a placed on your heart?

Have you even discovered your purpose, vision and dreams?

In the last 2 months, I have been on six flights, gathered thousands of air miles, spent almost 100 hours in the air and airports combined.

Out of the thousand people I have seen along the way, I wonder how many are truly living a purpose driven life?

When their time on earth is over, how many can say with an unwavering certainty that, indeed, they had lived life to the fullest through a groundbreaking vision that advanced humanity.

My dad’s law report and legal impact is felt in the lengths and breath of Nigeria, and other parts of Africa and the world in general.

He left an indelible mark in the hearts of law practitioners, & for that, he will ever be remembered and respected.

Life & Leadership Lessons from the Brilliant Legal Legend: Anthony Efe Ogbeide-Ihama, Esq.

#1 - BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY DECISIVE:

When my dad decided to change his thriving profession of electrical engineering at the age of about 40 years to study law in the university, everyone, including mom, me and all his extended family members, thought he had lost lost mind.

Who leaves such a prestigious position and secure job in the government to dabble into a profession he knew nothing about simply because of passion?

Despite having a wife and four children to feed, then, dad did and do so with such an overwhelming drive and determination that he constantly had to drive away from his presence anyone who tried to convince or influence him to not pursue his dream of becoming a brilliant lawyer.

Even as a child, I remember being so proud of him every year as he shook the hands of the State Governor then for his academic excellence.

Years later, he shared with us how he would put his feet into a basin of water to avoid falling asleep as he studied law throughout the night just to keep up with fellow students who were as young as us.

Thank you, daddy, for this great lesson. Because of this example, dad, I have pursued dreams that are groundbreaking and earth shattering as well.

I was and remain proud of how many times you had to defend your dreams to your relatives who thought you were going crazy!!

Hey, you reading this - stand up for your dream!! Pursue it with fervour!! Stay away from dream killers and discouragers!!

RIP Dad, Rest In Peace!! Now you are reunited with mommy, you wife of 53 years who passed away only 8 months ago.

May Almighty God grant us the strength to go through this excruciating double pain so close to each other. Amen!!

Your son,
Nosakhare Alex Ihama
