Engr. Omobayo Marvellous Godwins is a Nigerian engineer, politician, and public servant whose professional and political journey reflects a commitment to leadership, youth participation, and public service. He is a graduate of the University of Benin, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and further earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He is also associated with professional engineering bodies, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers and COREN.

Before his entry into high-level politics, Engr. Omobayo built valuable professional experience in the engineering and oil and gas sectors. He served as a Senior Maintenance Engineer with Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, where he was involved in operations across the South-South region. His technical background, professional discipline, and experience in the private sector provided a strong foundation for his subsequent transition into public leadership.

His political journey gained significant prominence in 2024 when he was appointed Deputy Governor of Edo State by Governor Godwin Obaseki following the impeachment of Philip Shaibu. He was sworn into office on 8 April 2024, becoming one of Nigeria's youngest serving deputy governors at the time. During his tenure, he represented a new generation of political leadership and was positioned as part of efforts to promote youth inclusion, equity, and broader participation in governance. His tenure ended in November 2024 following the inauguration of the new administration.
