An ottoman could also be called a fainting couch, it usually has no back but it has a head, sometimes, it does not have both. Ottomans usually come in a square shape or a semi circular shape and could be used to serve a lot of purposes. It could serve as a sofa for resting as it is an overstuffed upholstered seat(i.e the wood used to manufacture the ottoman is not visible). It could also serve as a stool, a coffee table and a foot stool. An ottoman can also be called an hassock that is large and also has a storage space. There are several benefits of using an ottoman; it has a storage compartment for storing items, it could be used as a form of decoration, it could be used as a footrest while relaxing, it adds color to the living room and it is also used by kids as a flat surface when they want to play games. Ottomans are a necessity in a home as it can be used to different purposes.
