🚨 BIS COMPLIANCE UPDATE FOR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

The Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2026 introduces mandatory compliance requirements for a wide range of electrical appliances.

📅 Applicable from 1 October 2026 for general enterprises.

Covered products must conform to IS 302 (Part 1):2024 / IEC 60335-1:2020 and bear the BIS Standard Mark under licence. The order covers 90 categories of electrical appliances, including vacuum cleaners, cooking ranges, ovens, food processors, dishwashers, heating appliances and more.

🏢 Small Enterprises: 1 January 2027
🏭 Micro Enterprises: 1 April 2027

MeitY has extended the BIS compliance deadline for Television Sets under IS 18112:2022 from 26 July 2026 to 26 January 2027.

The extension gives manufacturers, importers, and testing laboratories additional time to complete product testing, BIS certification, and CRS registration.

⚡ BEE Update | Revised Star Rating Requirements for .The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (ऊर्जा दक्षता ब्यूरो) has issued an important advisory for manufacturers and permittees of Distribution Transformers regarding the revised Star Rating Table.

The revised requirements will be applicable from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029. Manufacturers/permittees intending to continue existing BEE-approved models are required to apply through the “Continuation” option and obtain approval under the revised energy-efficiency standards before 31 December 2026.

Key Points:

🔹 Revised Star Rating Table applicable from 1 January 2027

🔹 Continuation approval for existing approved models

🔹 Deadline: 31 December 2026

🔹 Table 4 specifies standard losses for Distribution Transformers up to 11 kV class

🔹 Applicable transformers must meet the specified type-test requirements and carry the Bureau of Indian Standards certification mark.

Manufacturers and permittees should review their existing models and initiate the necessary compliance action well before the deadline.
