Meet Prof. Abubakar Ahmed: A Trailblazing Professor of Architecture Transforming Architectural Education in Kano
Prof. Abubakar Ahmed (Ahmad) is a distinguished academic and architect who has made significant contributions to architectural education, research, and practice in Northern Nigeria.
He is a Professor of Theory and Universal Design in Architecture at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State, where he has played a key role in advancing architectural studies.
Prof. Abubakar Ahmed obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, before earning his PhD in Architectural Design (Theory and History) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
Throughout his academic career, he has served as the immediate past Head of the Department of Architecture and the immediate past Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences at ADUSTECH.
His research expertise covers architectural theory, Hausa traditional architecture, spatial morphology, conservation, and universal design. Through his publications and scholarly work, he has contributed greatly to the preservation and understanding of historical environments across Northern Nigeria.
