Stay Safe From Corona Virus

Over the past couple of weeks, it’s become clear that the world is facing an unprecedented challenge. Nigeria is not left out; 8 confirmed cases of the Corona Virus Disease have been recorded across different states.

While we send our heartfelt wishes to those affected by the virus, both directly and indirectly and wish them a speedy recovery, we urge you to take adequate precautions to protect yourself and loved ones from the unfortunate incident that has enveloped the globe.

As you might know, the World Health Organization has released basic protective measures against the virus, some of which include, but are not limited to washing your hands regularly, refraining from touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, practising respiratory hygiene, social distancing, avoiding handshakes, amongst others. We understand it’s human to panic in the face of a pandemic but it’s more important to take extra measures to stay safe.

We’ve highlighted some:

Opt for virtual meetings: Business must go on as usual and thankfully, the technology to make that happen is available. Replace physical meetings with virtual meetings, Zoom and Skype are your go-to for this

Stay home: It could get boring, we know, but getting the virus isn’t fun either. Thankfully, there’s cable TV; stay entertained, keep up with the news, and sleep.

Love from a distance: It’s not as easy as it sounds but it’s the most practical thing to do. If you miss a loved one and need to catch up with them, buy airtime and load data to stay in touch

Walk away from cash: No, we definitely don’t want you to lose any money. However, digital channels are your safest bet for sending/receiving money and making bill payments.

Postpone your vacation: Now isn’t the best time to go on any trip, whether for business or shopping. You can choose to shop online instead and receive money for that business through Western Union.

We are positive we’ll rise above this pandemic. Please take care of yourselves and each other.

Effective strategic planning articulates not only where an organization is going and the actions needed to make progress, but also how it will know if it is successful.

Visualise your CV
CV is a vital tool in your career plan and any job search .It is a good idea to have a Current CV at all times, even if you are not looking for a new position.

Whenever you achieve something memorable at work- meet or exceed a sales target, achieve savings, spot an opportunity for the business and develop it- log it on your CV.

This makes updating it a lot easier when you do decide you want to look around to see what else is out there.

This is a great question.

It is exactly the kind of answer you should have thought about before an interview, as it is very common, and gives you the platform you need to pitch for the position. If the question is not asked in this format, there will probably be somewhere you can work your prepared answer in.

I have already covered interview preparation extensively on this site, with two separate posts on the topic. I recommend you follow this page and reread them all.

To get back to your specific questions, these are great questions for you. It’s your chance to ensure the interviewer understands that you are the right person for the job. Remember they are looking for someone who can perform a specific function for them. They have a need, they want to find someone who is a perfect match.

So, as an introduction, briefly say who you are and what you do, being sure to mention professional and relevant issues only.

“Hi, I’m Nnaemeka, I have worked in retail and TV shopping , and owned and managed a training company . Now I am writing content for blogs that offer information, advice and guidance on career management and management skills.”

When you are preparing the response to your second question, “Why do you think you are the best candidate for this job “in advance of the interview, look at what the job vacancy asks for.

Imagine you are applying for a job writing copy for a blog, working from home, on a part time basis only, and the advertisement states-

Preferred experience; –

Sales experience

B2B marketing

Copy writing experience.

Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines

Spend some time working out a script that demonstrates you meet all those requirements.

“I know that I can met the requirements you specified for this role , because of my background . I have experience of writing copy designed to sell products for both blogs and internet marketing, so I am confident I will be able to do that for you very effectively.

I managed the marketing campaigns for my company, selling our training services to companies for their staff, so I do have extensive B2B marketing experience. I really enjoyed that aspect of the role.

I currently work from home, on a part time basis, and arrange my own schedule, so I can easily fit my writing around your requirements. I am used to working to tight deadlines, so that will not present a problem “.

You might go on to say;-

“I think I would fit well into your team, I am very interested in the products you sell and love the fact that you encourage staff to learn new skills “.

So relish this question, it is a gift, a chance to show you are the perfect fit, and that you have taken care to research what this particular role needs , and are confident you can carry it out competently and effectively .
