Month 1–6: Learn German to B2
Month 7–12: Verify your degree, prepare your documents, and apply for your licence.
Year 2: Pass your language exam, secure your first hospital role, and begin your medical career in Germany.
That's the reality for most serious doctors.
Not the "move in 6 months" stories.
Not the shortcuts.
Not the promises.
The doctors succeeding in Germany today didn't get there overnight. They started early, stayed consistent, and followed a structured plan.

Meet Dr. Ebenezer Okechukwu Ebenezer Okechukwu, direktor dr.Jakpa
This photo was taken the day he arrived in Germany🇩🇪 after fleeing the war in Ukraine in 2022 with no B2 German, no job, no visa, no license, and no resident permit.
This was the beginning.....almost deported, he had to navigate the German licensing pathway on his own with no step by step guide & no mentor.

🇩🇪Germany doesn’t need more foreign doctors desperately.
They need doctors who speak German and pass their exams.
Your UK/US dream might be blocked.
Germany has a clearer path for those willing to grind language.
But it’s work, not magic.

A medical degree alone is NOT enough to practice medicine in Germany.
If you studied medicine in a non-EU country, Germany generally expects you to be fully licensed to practice in the country where your medical qualification is recognized before applying for medical license in Germany.
It's one of the most overlooked requirements in the entire process—and one that can change everything.

Berufserlaubnis is temporary permission to work while preparing for Approbation.
Approbation is the full licence.
Most rush Berufserlaubnis, burn time, then realise the real exam (FSP) is still ahead.
Two different games.
Don’t mix them up.

Germany 🇩🇪 Timeline reality:

Month 7–12: Anabin confirmation + Berufserlaubnis application in your chosen state.

Year 2: FSP exam + start working.
This is the average for doctors who treat it seriously.
