FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALKALERI DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION & CO.

KOLMANI RIVER II IS ACTUALLY LOCATED IN GOMBE STATE NOT BAUCHI
By: Engr. Abba Kolo

The 10th of October 2019 will forever remain a turning point in the area of inland basin exploration, and a great day to the people of Northeast, North and Nigeria in whole because it was the day NNPC announce the discovery of oil, after encountering hydrocarbon outflow to the well head while performing well test operation. As a one of the contractors who were part of the operation, it was a joyous and great day for us.
This article was written to clear the air on where Kolmani River II is located. I also want to state that I am neither an indigene of Bauchi nor Gombe hence the State where the oil well is located has no direct benefit to me. As you may be aware both states are laying claim to the oil well.
In the beginning of the drilling operations, after we were mobilized to the site , we observed that the site is located in Pindiga area of Akko L.G.A of Gombe State but to our surprise the site was addressed as in Alkaleri L.G.A of Bauchi State.
To set the records straight and clear my conscience by telling the truth, I wish to bring forward substantial evidence that will buttress my point that the oil well is in Gombe State. Images from Google Map and data from the Boundary Commission was used.

(1st Map)
1.1 KOLMANI RIVER II DRILLING RIG AT COORDINATES 10O 6’ 30.9319” N, 10O 43’ 17.42227” E,

(2nd Map)
1.2 LOCATION OF THE KOLMANI RIVER II IN RELATION TO BAUCHI GOMBE BORDER FROM GOOGLE MAP IMAGE (USING DEFAULT MAP TYPE) 10O 6’ 30.9319” N, 10O 43’ 17.42227” E,

(3rd Map)
1.3 A MORE DETAIL AND LABELLED MAP SHOWING WHERE THE WELL IS LOCATED IN RELATION TO BAUCHI AND GOMBE SIDE OF THE BORDER @ 10O 6’ 30.9319” N, 10O 43’ 17.42227” E,

(4th Map)
1.4 LOCATION OF THE KOLMANI RIVER II IN RELATION TO BAUCHI GOMBE BORDER FROM GOOGLE MAP (USING SETTLITE MAP TYPE) @ 10O 6’ 30.9319” N, 10O 43’ 17.42227” E,

(5th Map)
1.5 A MORE DETAIL AND LABELLED MAP SHOWING WHERE THE WELL IS LOCATED IN RELATION TO BAUCHI AND GOMBE SIDE OF THE BORDER. You can see clearly the oil well is on Gombe State side of the border.

(6th Map)
1.6 THE WELL IS LOCATED 2.54 Km TO BAUCHI BORDER AS SHOWN ABOVE.

(7th Map)
1.7 THE MAP OF GOMBE STATE (CULLED FROM BOUNDRY COMMISSION)

(8th Map)
1.8 THE MAP OF BAUCHI STATE (CULLED FROM BOUNDRY COMMISSION)

The maps of Bauchi and Gombe State are exactly similar with that of Google Map.

(9th Map)
1.9 BIRD EYE VIEW OF KOLMANI WELL II (THE DOT LINES SHOWS THE BOUNDRY BETWEEN GOMBE AND BAUCHI STATE AND SHOWN CLEARLY IT IS IN GOMBE STATE)

(10th Map)
1.10 WHEN YOU DOUBLE CLICK ON THE COORDINATES 10O 6’ 30.9319” N, 10O 43’ 17.42227” E, SHOWS THIS IN GOOGLE MAP A PROOF THAT THE WELL IN LOCATED AT THAT COORDINATES.

The above evidences had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the oil well is in Gombe State. I will encourage my readers to confirm all that I have written and images/coordinates that were shown in relation to the oil well by verifying it using Google Map which is available on Android Phones and Computers.
It is my believe that this article will go a great length in dousing the tension that is brewing between the people of Bauchi and Gombe States on the ownership of the oil well. We should remember that the people of both States have being living peacefully with one another and Gombe State was even carved out of Bauchi State.
It is said injustice breed conflict so let those in charge be fair and just to all. As the saying goes let’s not rob Paul to pay Peter and give to Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser.
Lastly this revelation was done in good faith with no intent for malice, if any person or group of persons find it annoying or improper especially the people of Bauchi State then I am humbly sorry I do seek forgiveness. It is said truth can be bitter but sometimes we need to take a bitter pill to be well from a chronic illness. The cheering news is that in the coming months more wells are expected to be drill on the Bauchi State side of the Gongola Basin.

Thank you and God bless.
