We’re proud to announce that Viable Knowledge Masters (VKM) has been awarded a UNICEF Nigeria contract to conduct a study titled: ‘Assessing Barriers and Enablers to the Usage of RMNCAH+N Products and Developing SBC Strategies in Sokoto, Adamawa, and Kano.’

Essential health products such as contraceptives, maternal supplements, vaccines, therapeutic foods are available, but usage remains low. Our work will dig into why, assess the factors influencing usage, and identify ways to close this gap.

This will happen across four key areas:

Market Assessment: Understanding demand and usage of RMNCAH+N products.
Barrier & Enabler Analysis: Identifying factors that influence access and usage.
SBC Strategy Development: Developing strategies to encourage informed and sustained use.
Dissemination Planning: Identifying effective ways to reach communities with the right information.

We are excited to bring our expertise to this important project and contribute to better health outcomes across the three states.

Social media has become a powerful space for public conversation. But the way people respond to controversial events is not always neutral.

Our recent publication, “Gender-biased commentaries following explicit videos of two Nigerian celebrities,” examines how gendered social norms influence online reactions to explicit videos involving a Nigerian male and female celebrity.

Using a sentiment analysis of 1,730 tweets, the study explored the nature of public commentary and how gender influenced the responses directed at both individuals.

The findings highlight how gendered norms continue to shape online conversations, influencing the nature of public reactions, criticism, and social judgement.

Targeted investment is driving measurable improvements in Nigeria’s catfish aquaculture sector.

Through the development and use of databases as well as training in best management practices, FISH4ACP has supported 500 farmers across five fish-farming clusters to increase their production, cut costs and boost value added.

’s latest investment case highlights the project’s approach, the results achieved, and the opportunities to scale these gains across the sector.

To the fathers who lead with strength, love, sacrifice, and wisdom, whose hard work and countless sacrifices speak volumes. To the fathers who stay strong even when they're tired, who keep showing up, solving problems, and putting family first, even on the days no one notices. Happy Father's Day!

Every child deserves more than dreams for the future. They deserve the basic things that make those dreams possible.

For millions of African children, access to clean water and safe sanitation is still a daily challenge. Yet something as simple as turning on a tap can mean better health, more time in school, and a brighter future.

The future of Africa doesn't just depend on its resources.
It depends on the well-being of its children.

Research shows that 138 million children are still trapped in child labour, 54 million of them in hazardous conditions.

Today, the world marks the International Day Against Child Labour and this year's message is clear: children belong in classrooms and on playgrounds. Adults deserve fair wages and dignified work. These two things are inseparable.

We join our voice to a global demand: fair play for every child, dignified work for every adult. Because development that leaves the most vulnerable behind isn't development at all.

Today, the conversation on strengthening Nigeria's health systems takes center stage at the 12th Annual Conference & AGM of the Epidemiological Society of Nigeria (EPiSON) in Calabar, Cross River State.

We are proud to share that our Managing Partner, Dr. Olusesan Makinde, is speaking at this year's conference, contributing to this important national conversation through his presentation:

"Building Epidemiological Resilience Through an Operational Mortality Surveillance Network in Nigeria"

His presentation speaks to one of the most critical gaps in our public health infrastructure, and we look forward to the valuable insights he will bring to fellow public health professionals, researchers, and policymakers in the room.
