The quest for personal and professional achievement has expanded in today's vibrant and linked society. People are increasingly looking for methods to have a meaningful impact on other people's lives and the world at large, in addition to traditional metrics of performance.

Being valuable entails going above and beyond mere skill and making a significant contribution. To effect change, it entails utilizing your particular strengths, interests, and ideals; it encompasses the development of skills, knowledge, character, and the ability to contribute positively to the lives of others. To be valuable means to actively seek opportunities to make a difference.

To be valuable, you have to do the following;

Self-belief is the first step in the journey toward being valuable. Accept the idea that you have the power to change the world and acknowledge the value you possess. Recognize the great importance in the particular abilities, experiences, and viewpoints you bring to the table. Develop your sense of self-worth and a growth attitude so that you may continue to learn, adjust, and get better. Accept setbacks as opportunities for development, and have faith in your capacity to get past roadblocks.

For your efforts to be truly valuable, they should be in line with your interests and goals. Determine the causes, problems, or specialty areas that inspire you. Think about the things that are most important to youโ€”your valuesโ€”and how you may help further those causes. When you put sincere enthusiasm into your profession, it becomes a source of joy and vigor that motivates you to have a big effect. You may persevere in the face of obstacles and setbacks by embracing your interests and purpose.

To be valuable, you frequently need to broaden your knowledge and develop a variety of talents. Identify the knowledge and abilities necessary for your chosen career or area of influence, and make an investment in ongoing education. Be on the lookout for opportunities to learn new skills, whether through formal schooling, online courses, or mentoring

Being valuable needs commitment, confidence in oneself, ongoing learning, and a sincere desire to help others. People can reach their greatest potential, stand out in their pursuits, and leave a lasting impression by adopting the BE VALUABLE mentality.

Remember, your value lies within you, embrace it, cultivate it, and share it with the world.

Countless times, we often use these titles wrongly, and almost everyone, at one point or the other, gets it wrong. What really is the difference???
โ€‹
Just as a model is something that represents an inspirational ideal, a role model is someone who inspires others to imitate his or her good behavior.
โ€‹
A role model is someone others look to as a good example. A role model is someone worthy of imitation โ€” like your beloved teacher or a well-behaved celebrity, especially by younger people.
โ€‹
Parents try to be role models for their children by being good people. A famous person who gives money to charity or helps sick children is a role model.
โ€‹
If someone behaves badly, you could say they're a negative or bad role model โ€” the kind of person who shouldn't be imitated (I think this is something we should already know).
โ€‹
Who then is the Mentor?
โ€‹
A mentor is a person who can support, advise and guide you. They typically take the time to get to know you and the challenges you're facing, and then use their understanding and personal experience to help you improve.
โ€‹
These are people you develop close relationships with. You get to know them one-on-one, someone who is easily accessible.
โ€‹
You can have a spiritual mentor, a career mentor, a fitness mentor, an academic mentor, etc.
โ€‹
โ€‹
Let's look at practical examples;
โ€‹
On fitness, your role model could be Adesua Etomi Wellington or Dwayne Johnson, but your mentor is your fitness instructor.
โ€‹
On spirituality, your role model could be Bishop David Oyedepo or Apostle Emmanuel Iren but your mentor is your Pastor. And so on and so on.
โ€‹
At times, you may be opportune enough to have your role model as your mentor, but in most cases, this isn't possible.
โ€‹
And, it's never enough to just have a role model. You need to have a mentor too, someone you can be accountable to. Someone to ensure you are always on track because we have to admit that without us being accountable to anybody we may become complacent, and lazy in achieving our set goals and, eventually, Our Big Vision.
โ€‹
Moreover, it's not wrong to have different role models or mentors. You can decide to have role models/mentors in different areas of your life; academically, business-wise, and so on. The problem comes in when you begin to change them like you change your clothes, that shows indecisiveness.
โ€‹
Now, the question is, who is your mentor? Who is your role model?

โ€‹
โ€‹
Many individuals have given up on their dreams due to circumstances that have befallen them.
โ€‹
โ€‹
Who says that you can't amount to anything because of a tragedy? Keep pushing. You don't know what opportunity lies in waiting for you.
โ€‹
โ€‹
We will be looking at the life of a woman who never gave up on her dreams even when it seemed all hope was lost.
โ€‹
โ€‹
This woman is no other person than Marya Salomee Sklodowska.
โ€‹
โ€‹
โ€‹
Marya Salomee Sklodowska was born on 7 November 1867 in Warsaw, Poland. The youngest of five children, she had a brother and three older sisters. Her parents were both teachers who ensured that their daughters were educated like their sons.
โ€‹
โ€‹
Curieโ€™s mother died from tuberculosis in 1878. This had a profound impact on her and catalyzed Curieโ€™s lifelong battle with depression, but this didn't stop her, although it made them doubt the benevolence of God.
โ€‹
โ€‹
She was renowned for her prodigious memory, and she graduated from secondary education aged 15, coming first in her class.
โ€‹
โ€‹
Curieโ€™s sister Bronisล‚awa wanted to attend medical school. However, the University of Warsaw didnโ€™t accept women, meaning both needed to move abroad to do so. Aged 17, Curie took up work as a governess, where she experienced an unhappy love affair.
โ€‹
โ€‹
Curie enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris under the name โ€˜Marieโ€™ to sound more French. She came top of her class and was thus awarded the Alexandrovich Scholarship for Polish students studying abroad. This helped her pay for her degrees in physics and mathematical sciences in 1894.
โ€‹
โ€‹
Curie was intrigued by the discovery of X-rays and began conducting her research. In a paper, she coined the word โ€˜radioactiveโ€™ and made two startling observations: that measuring radioactivity would allow for the discovery of new elements, and that radioactivity was a property of the atom.
โ€‹
โ€‹
When World War One broke out, Curie realized that the radiation of X-rays could help doctors see the bullets and shrapnel embedded in soldiersโ€™ bodies. Battlefield X-rays became commonplace and helped to save countless lives.
โ€‹
She is best known for her pioneering work on radioactivity, which led to the discovery of two new elements, polonium, and radium. โ€‹

Marie Curie was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, and she was also the first person, and only woman, to receive two Nobel Prizes in different fields (physics and chemistry).
โ€‹
โ€‹
She conducted her research at the University of Paris, and after her death, her papers were placed in the French National Library's Marie Curie Collection.
โ€‹
โ€‹
It's good to know that Marie Curie is a fighter who never gave up on her dream, who didn't give up due to her current situation but still determined that her dreams one day will see the light of day.

The phrase โ€œThank God it's Friday,โ€ or โ€œTGIF,โ€ is frequently used to convey joy and relief at the end of a workweek.

Although it's common for people to view the weekend as a time to relax and enjoy themselves, it's important to consider the benefits of using this time to make plans for the coming week.

While it's essential to unwind and enjoy life outside of work, living a successful and fulfilling life also necessitates careful planning and preparation. You may maximize your time and set yourself up for success by using the time on Friday night or throughout the weekend to plan out the upcoming week's chores, deadlines, and goals.

Try focusing on the chances and challenges that lie ahead, rather than simply counting down the minutes until the weekend starts.

Take this opportunity to consider your successes and setbacks from the previous week and how you can develop and get better moving forward.

Even in the busiest and most stressful situations, this proactive strategy can help you maintain your motivation and attention.

Naturally, maintaining a healthy balance and making time for rest and relaxation are equally significant.

However, you can design a happy and fulfilling life that truly makes the most of every single day by giving both fun and relaxation equal priority along with productivity and growth.

The next time you find yourself saying โ€œTGIF,โ€ pause for a moment and consider how you can use the weekend to position yourself for success in the coming week.

For your financial security and stability, effective money management is essential. The points discussed in the text are further explained in the sections below:

1. Create a budget: Setting up a budget is a crucial first step in managing your money. You may plan and organize your spending by using a budget. It lets you identify your expenses, classify them, and distribute money to each category in accordance with the significance of each category. You can monitor your expenditures and prevent overspending if you have a budget.

You can make a budget by keeping track of your income and expenses for a set length of timeโ€”typically a monthโ€”and then using the information to see where you can make savings.

2. Save some more: Financial management includes saving, which is crucial. It entails saving a portion of your money for later use. Savings might be put to use for unexpected costs, investments, or other upcoming costs.

Saving money can be challenging, especially if your income is low, but it's important to start small and add to it over time. You can begin by deciding how much you want to save each month as a goal, and then you can start looking for methods to cut costs to reach that goal. You might also think about creating a savings plan that takes a particular percentage of your monthly income out of your account on autopilot.

3. Learn how to invest: By putting your money to work, you may increase your wealth and reach your financial objectives. Investing entails placing money into things that could appreciate in value over time. It's crucial to explore your investing alternatives and pick one that fits your risk tolerance and financial objectives.

Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate are a few popular investing possibilities. Before making any financial decisions, it is crucial to seek professional guidance because investing can be risky.

In summary, attaining financial stability and security requires efficient management of your finances. This can be achieved by creating a budget, setting aside a portion of your earnings for savings, and acquiring knowledge on investing.

Additionally, keeping yourself informed on financial management is crucial in making sound financial choices.

While growing up, I admired a woman who has a dual citizenship of being a Nigerian and an American. I also admire the way she styles her headgear because it distinguishes her anytime she appears on the screen.

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the woman I had always admired while growing up. We can't discuss great women who made impact and influenced their world without mentioning her name.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was born on the 13th of June, 1954 into a royal family. She bagged her first degree in Economics at the Harvard University at age 22. She earned a Masterโ€™s degree in City Planning and a PhD in Regional Economics and Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Furthermore, she is an African woman who broke records and achieved great feats in Politics, Finances and in the Business world. She has challenged and inspired many women, especially African women by being the first woman and first African to win the Director-General post of the 164-member World Trade Organization (WTO).

She had a 25-year career as a Development Economist at the World Bank, where she rose to the post of the Managing Director of Operations. She was also the first Nigerian woman to serve two terms as the Minister of Finance under two different governments. Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala also served as the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria in 2006.

In Africa, where it is considered that women do not need to pursue top seats like men do, especially in Politics. How, then, was she able to scale above all odds and attain such great height in the Political world?

Here is the secret:

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala believed in herself by declaring to the world that she was the best person for the job despite the other competing resumes. She stood out with her faith and confidence, which every lady working on something or aiming at something should also do.

She created her own narrative by being able to make decisions independently while breaking the traditional current conditions set up for women.

She created an impact in whatever role she found herself. She helped Nigeria come out of the $30 billion dollars of external debt from the Paris Club in 2005 as a Finance Minister.

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala leveraged on the fact that many Presidents backed her up publicly. She was able to communicate her message to various people who not only heard her voice but also supported her and her beliefs.

In almost every measure of success in today's world, we see odds disproportionately stacked against women, but every year, we see more women rising to take challenging leadership roles across every major sector in the world. Women like Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala have overtime become world changers and role models and are opening more possibilities for more women to rise too.

Do not be intimidated as a woman. You're not an African woman accidentally. You're a force to be reckoned with! Not only that, you have greatness inside of you!

Communication is vital to us. You express your emotions and build relationships through communication.

Sadly, a good number of us lack good communication skills, sometimes we are vague or expect others to instinctively know what is going in our head without saying anything.
โ€‹

Below are 5 ways you can elevate your communication skills:

โ—พ Listen! Listen! Listen: It is popularly said that we have two ears and one mouth, so we can speak less and listen more.

โ—พ Think before you speak: Many people do not do this. Always filter your words in your head before speaking, especially when you are angry, happy, or speaking to someone in a higher authority.

You want to avoid saying something only to regret it later. Prepare your words ahead.
โ€‹

โ—พ Be clear and concise: The key to powerful and persuasive communicationโ€”whether written or spokenโ€” is clarity. Before engaging in any form of communication, define your audience and goals.

Who are you speaking to? What do you want achieved by the end of your communication with the person?

Outline carefully and explicitly what you want to convey, and delete irrelevant details. Avoid unnecessary words, too much repetition, and overly flowery language.
โ€‹

โ—พ Your body language: Do you remember how our mothers would speak to us without even opening their mouth?

Actions speak louder than words. Your facial expressions, gestures, and body language can, and actually often do say more than our words.

Your non-verbal cues must, at all times, support your message. Conflict of verbal and non-verbal communication can cause confusion and, at worst, undermine your message.
โ€‹

โ—พ Watch your tone: How you say something can just be as important as what you say. Your tone can add power and emphasis, or totally undermine it.

When speaking, to indicate a volume, projection, intonation, and choice. It can be challenging to control your tone to ensure it matches your intent, but you need to be mindful of your tone. It will enable you to alter your words appropriately, especially when the communication seems to be going in the wrong direction.

When in a heated argument in a written medium, don't be too hasty in your replies. Write out whatever it is you want to say, leave it a while until you calm down, re-read it again before you hit send. You would realize the lot of difference it will make.

Matt Morris is the author of several publications, including โ€œFire your boss and live life on your own,โ€ โ€œEscape the Rat Race,โ€ and โ€œThe Unemployed Millionaire.โ€

He has given speeches in 35 different nations and been interviewed by top television networks, including CNN, ABC, CBS, etc. owned a business that assisted 300 people in becoming published authors.
โ€‹

His narrative?
โ€‹

According to reports, Matt's mother raised him. His father was a murderer who was detained and imprisoned.

At the age of 13, his father passed away after committing su***de.
โ€‹

Additionally, Matt failed as an entrepreneur. At precisely 21 years old, he experienced homelessness and began sleeping in his car and bathing in gas station bathrooms.
โ€‹

Matt's past and failures, however, did not prevent him from becoming who he is now.
โ€‹

As a result, he started earning six figures at age 24 and became a self-made millionaire at age 29.

No matter one's past, Matt's narrative serves as a reminder to never give up on oneself.
โ€‹

Some come from low-income families, which prevents them from having large financial ideas. Others may have backgrounds similar to Matt's, which may have mentally damaged them. But once the mind is made up, anything can be overcome.
โ€‹

Who would have thought that someone who took a bath in a gas station bathroom would go on to become a millionaire?
โ€‹

The reason being that Matt never gave up and so, must, anyone who wishes to be successful?
โ€‹

Come to think of it. The man who gives up has failed by default. But the man who chooses to stand against all odds stands the chance of being successful. So, where do you stand? On the side of winners or on the side of quitters.

I've heard some people say that โ€œI want to go back to who I was before.โ€ The truth is that you can't be your old self again.
โ€‹
When you were a child, your clothes then fit you perfectly. But if you put on those clothes now, you'll realize that you've outgrown them.
โ€‹
Of course, you were happy those clothes didn't fit you again whenever mummy gets you a new one except in some cases where the cloth is a special one. But even at that, you were left with no choice but to do away with it.
โ€‹
Did you remember when you put on those old clothes, and you realized that it looked so small on you and didn't fit at allโ€“a cloth that once fitted you perfectly?
โ€‹
What happened? Growth.
โ€‹
Didn't you learn in school that growth is an irreversible change in size? Why are you trying to change this definition?
โ€‹
You don't understand what I'm saying, right? No problem. I'll make you understand.
โ€‹
These old clothes are actually behaviours, habits that you've outgrown. They are patterns you've outgrown in your field. Why do you want to go back to them? Don't you know that they will look so ugly on you? They don't fit you anymore.
โ€‹
You battled with consistency in your field, but after some time, you became consistent. But what's happening now?
โ€‹
Going back to that stage of inconsistency is you trying to reverse the change you've experienced. Trust me, they don't look anything less than ugly and bad on you.
โ€‹
Where did you miss it? Did you stop reading? Did you run away from mentorship? What is the reason behind this sudden bad change? Can you trace it and tackle it?
โ€‹
You just have to trace and tackle it because you look so tattered in those old habits and patterns you once neglected.
โ€‹

Two girls were trained in the same cooking school. They enrolled in the school because of their immense love for cooking.
โ€‹

These two girls got admission into different higher institutions, but their friendship wasn't broken since they got to keep in touch via the phone.
โ€‹

One of the girls started a food delivery business (this included baked, fried and cooked food), and she was making it, while the other only applied her culinary skills in her kitchen; she wasn't making any money.
โ€‹

These girls attended the same cooking school, got the same knowledge and both had great affinity for cooking, but only one of the girls was making money from it. Why?
โ€‹

The day I got to meet the girl who was making money from her cooking skills, I asked her what her secret was, and she said, โ€œI've never remained the same ever since I took that bold step.โ€
โ€‹

I was curious to know about this bold step she took, just as you are right now. She finally let the cat out of the bag and her reply was, โ€œMENTORSHIP.โ€
โ€‹

She decided that she was going to teach me the great benefits of mentorship so that I'll understand how she was able to convert her passion and skill to cash.
โ€‹

The benefits of mentorship she shared with me is what I'll share with you now so that you can also learn. They include;
โ€‹

โ€ข Increased self-confidence and self-awareness:
โ€‹
If you lack confidence, you can't make out something worthwhile, even from what you love doing. Her mentor kept ringing it in her ear that she could do it, and she believed that she could do it. Her confidence in her cooking skills increased and this helped her to launch out her cooking business.
โ€‹

โ€ข Opportunity to ask better questions:
โ€‹
Not everybody will be ready to give you a listening ear, but your mentor will always have your time, no matter how busy he/she could be because you've not become her responsibility. You have the opportunity to ask any question bothering you in your field, and you'll surely get answers to them.
โ€‹
โ€‹
โ€ข Exposure to new and different perspectives:
โ€‹
Your mentor has gone ahead of you and knows better than you do. He/she has already been exposed to different things in your field that you don't even know about. But you get to be exposed to better opportunities that ordinarily you might not get exposed to in five years of experience just because you have a mentor.
โ€‹
โ€‹
โ€ข Reduced levels of anxiety:
โ€‹
When you are starting something new, there is every possibility that you will be anxious, and this is not good for you. But with a mentor, anxiety will disappear into thin air. Anxiety can't stand the voice of your mentor that keeps ringing, โ€œYou can do it! I'm here to help you!โ€ However, without a mentor, you might lose focus and even mess things up.
โ€‹
โ€‹
โ€ข Promotes continuous learning:
โ€‹
There is a saying that, โ€œLearning never ends.โ€ What if there is no one to learn from? What will become of you? With a mentor, you have somebody to keep learning from. This will keep pushing you to do more.
โ€‹
โ€‹
โ€ข Trial and error will be a story.
โ€‹
Your mentor has made the mistakes you are supposed to make. He/she has gone through these trial and errors and has come up with better formulas to help you in your field. You're just applying ready-made solutions to what you're doing, and that way you keep progressing.
โ€‹
โ€‹
These benefits and many more that this article couldn't contain were what she had with me.
โ€‹

This bold step she took was what was missing in her friend's life. Her friend argued that having good knowledge in a field is enough to be successful in that field.
โ€‹

She concluded by telling me that every man needs a hand to hold them to climb the ladder of success; men who are already making it in their field.
โ€‹

Do I still need to mention to you that you need to be mentored?
โ€‹

What if that your business or skill, requires a mentor for it to bloom? Why not submit under mentorship today? You won't regret it.
โ€‹

Take that bold step today!
