Someone asked me last year December how lucrative pig farming is in Nigeria.

I told him, that pig farming in Nigeria presents a lucrative opportunity for several reasons:

1. High Demand: The demand for pork in Nigeria is consistently high. Pork is a popular protein source, and as the population grows, so does the demand.

2. Quick Reproduction: Pigs reproduce relatively quickly compared to some other livestock. A single sow can have multiple litters in a year, contributing to the potential for high returns on investment.

3. Adaptability: Pigs are adaptable animals and can thrive in various environments. This makes pig farming feasible across different regions of Nigeria.

4. Value-Added Products: Beyond pork, there's potential for income through value-added products like sausages, bacon, and other processed pork items, catering to a diverse market.

5.Waste Utilization: Pigs can efficiently convert organic waste into valuable manure, creating an additional stream of income for farmers.

6. Profit Margins: With proper management and efficient farming practices, pig farming can offer favorable profit margins, making it an attractive venture for entrepreneurs.

7. Government Support: The Nigerian government has shown interest in promoting agriculture, providing various support programs and initiatives that can benefit pig farmers.

In the face of concerns about health risks related to pork consumption, particularly in relation to cardiovascular diseases, it's crucial to highlight that knowledge plays a pivotal role. Notably, reputable health organizations in the world and confirmed in Nigeria, have conducted studies affirming the safety of pork consumption in a professional way. According to their findings, pork can be consumed with confidence, akin to other meat sources such as poultry, beef, and goat. This underscores the importance of staying informed and making decisions based on reliable information.

MAJORITY FARMS AND AGRO-CONSULTS
PRESENTS YOU:
WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE-FARMER (2)?

WHAT WE'RE GIVING YOU TODAY
IS ABOUT CASSAVA FARMING
From my previous post, I skillfully analyzed how you can be a millionaire-Farmer with plantain plantation.

Now, let me show you a secret to become a millionaire-Farmer With TME 419 cassava plantation.

THE PARENTS OF TME 419 is now available in large quantity @ #570 /bundle (discount when you buy 300 bundles and above)

Why the parents of TME 419?
The parents give you high yield, much volume of starch content compare with the replanted ones that are common.
Check the attached picture for remarks from National Root Crops research Institute like IITA and the likes.

Note that the cost of cultivation varies from location. So take your time to find out the actual price of the items i will list in your location. This is just a guideline as we are in the farming season.

So the below analysis is what I can beat my chest for to work any where if you put everything in place.

Let's look at 2 hectares of land.

Now,

1. LAND PREPARATION FOR CASSAVA

Ploughing: this is the primary tillage to loosen or turn the soil.
PLOUGHING (single operation)/ acre = #10,000
5 acres = 2hectares
So #10,000 x 5= #50, 000

HARROWING: This is an implement for breaking up and smoothing out the surface of the soil. This operation is very important as far as cassava cultivation is concerned. The more the soil is loosened, the better the chances of having large cassava roots/tuber.

HARROWING (single operation)/ acre = #10,000
5 acres = 2 hectares
Therefore, #10,000 x 5= #50,000

2. SOURCING & TRANSPORTATION OF CASSAVA STEM
I plant and I supply TME 419 cassava stem. So from experience, 2hectares require 150 bundles of cassava stems.
A bundle of TME 419 stem cost #570 (Note, I give discount when you buy bulk quantity)

So cost per hectare/bundles will be
#570 x 150= ------------------ #85,500
Let put transportation @ #60,000
------------------------------------------------------
Total ---------------------------= #145,500
------------------------------------------------------

3. FIELD OPERATIONS
i. Spraying of herbicides:
An hectare requires 5litres of forceup chemical or any other @ #2000 per litre (this price can vary).
2 hectares will require
Therefore, 2 ( #2,000 x 5)= #20,000
Labour ----------------------------= #15,000
------------------------------------------------------
Total -------------------------------= #35,000
------------------------------------------------------

ii. Planting:
Cost of this operation per Hectare = #40,000
#40,000 x 2 = #80,000 ( it can be minus or plus)

iii. Weeding:
First w**ding occurs 6-8 weeks after planting and the price can be vary per location. This w**ding must be done manually because at this stage, cassava is yet to grow beyond the ground level.
An hectare cost #40,000 ( it can be minus or plus). So 2nectares is #80,000(this price can be minus or plus)

Second w**ding
This occurs at 3-4Months after planting. Depending on the nature of the farm; if manual w**ding is still necessary, it will be done but if covering produced by the cassava is much enough to hinder photosynthesis to happen to the w**d, therefore, considerably reducing w**d emergency. You can spray force-up to the BASE OF THE CASSAVA PLANTS NOT THE LEAF as the cassava would by then grew much above the ground.

Assuming we are applying chemical, at this point, we would not need much to apply. We need 6Lt for the 2 hectares
Therefore, #2,000 x 6= #12,000
Labour ---------------------= #15,000
-----------------------------------------------------
Total ------------------------= #27,000
------------------------------------------------------

Third w**ding
If it would be necessary, it surely will be chemical w**ding.
therefore, #2,000 x 6= #12,000
Labour ----------------------= #15,000
---------------------------------------------------
Total ------------------------= #27,000
------------------------------------------------------

HARVESTING & HAULAGE
Let's put this at #70,000 (It can be minus or plus)

NB: you can put 100k for unforeseen circumstances. This is for fertiliser application and boom spraying of pesticides for cassava field establishment.

Total investment= #574,000

NOW TO OUR PROFIT ON THIS INVESTMENT
An improved TME 419 Cassava would give you between 15- 20 tons per hectare

I don't know about your area, a ton of cassava is sold between 40-60k. In fact, it was sold at 80k this year.

Let's assume you get 15 tons per hectare as a worse case scenario.
15 x 2 = 30ton

Let's benchmark the price per ton at #40,000 as worse case
#40,000 x 30= #1,200,000.

Also, you would sell at least 15,000 bundles of cassava stems on your 2 hectares. This is a
assume you sell at the ridiculous rate of #400 per bundle.
So #400 x 15,000 = #6,000,000.
This is mission that is very possible.
I know some agricultural institutes like IITA and the likes that deliberately do cassava cultivation majorly because of Stems.

So your profit is simply output - input
Let's do the math:.

(6,000,000+1,200,000) - 574,000
= #6,626,000. Can you see what I saw?

Cassava farming business is known for its low input- high output nature.

Many industries in Nigeria use cassava as a major raw material so you don't have any trouble selling your products.

Cassava tubers is raw material for:

1. Noddles production industries

2. Alcohol and liquor production industries

3. Garri Factories

4. Cassava flour factories

5. Fufu producers etc

So when you want to choose an improved cassava variety, you should go for the one that gives you higher yield which is TME 419.
And yes, you get reasonable value inform of profit for your investment.

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE-FARMER (1)?

To the Existing, the new farmers and aspiring ones in the house this post is for you.

I wonder why some people would put their life saving in the bank. While the bank is trading with your money and many reasonable money, they give you change. Whereas the same money is what some of these banks are borrowing people to farm. Then what stops you from investing the same money on Agriculture and make multiple profit thank what the bank can give you?
I will show you some secrets among other ways to become a millionaire.

It has been a huge rain this month.

Now let me Show you the analysis on how you can be a millionaire-farmer when you invest in Plantain plantation.

An acre of land can take between 650 - 702 pieces of plantain suckers. A plot takes 123-130 suckers.

By selling bunches of plantain fruits and sucker, you will make money in months interval (depending on how you plant).

Though this business requires low or no skills. If an acre of plantain farm is well managed(putting necessary things in place), you can earn up to #1,000,000 yearly having deduct your investment cost. Yes I mean it.

Now to the investment Analysis of an acre of Plantain Farm:
NB: This analysis can be minus or plus depending on your location.

1. Transportation of suckers to farm: this varies depending on your location. Let's assume #50,000 within southwest.

2 Land Clearing: #20,000 per acre (mechanically & manually)

3. Suckers: A sucker is #100. between 650- 702 suckers plant an acre. Assume, 720. 702 x 100= #70, 200

4. Planting: Per acre is #30,000

5. First Weeding: #15,000 (this can be plus or Minus)

6. 2nd Weeding: #15,000 (this can be plus or Minus)

7. Staking : #20,000 (this can be plus or Minus)

8. Harvesting: #15,000 (this can also be plus or Minus)

9. Miscellaneous: #20,000

10. If your land has been used repeatedly for farming, it is advisable to apply soil boaster to enrich the soil especially for N. P. K.

You will need to apply manure between 2-3 times to increase the yield.

For manure, as said above, let go with 2 times application. 45bags will be used per acre @ #420/ bag.
Therefore, 2 x 45 x #420 per bag = N37,800. Note, this can be minus or plus based on your location.
Total: #293,000
Meaning with #300,000 or less, you can have your plantain farm.

Note: YOU ARE NOT INCURRING THIS 300K AT ONCE. YOU SPEND THE MONEY IN STAGES.

Let's calculate overhead and profit.

You will harvest 650-702bunches of Plantain between 9 and 11 months.

My market survey reveals that a bunch of Plantain is currently sold at @ N2,000 - N3,500 depending on size.

Assuming you are selling @ #2,000 per bunch. Let's say you have 650 stands in all.

#2,000 x 650 = #1,300,000

As said earlier, you will also be making money from selling suckers and you will have more than enough suckers of your own to plant several acres in the next planting.

Let's assume you sell 2,000pcs of suckers @ minimum of #80 (you will get above 2000 suckers on an acre, as a stand have between 5-8 suckers)
2000 x 80 = N160,000.

What you get on an acre:
#1,300,000 on plantain + N160,000 on suckers = N1,460,000

Imagine you have several acres/hectares!

All you will need in next cycle is application of manure and w**ding at intervals

Did you know that demand for plantain has increased by 280 per cent since 2010, and is expected to steadily increase in the years to come?

Did you also know that the price of plantain and other foodstuff everywhere in Nigeria is high because there’s a serious lack of supply?

It’s a fact. Demand for plantain is increasing substantially every year, but there aren’t enough farmers growing this money spinner! Prayer, indeed, is good, but while calling on the gods, a man should lend himself a hand.

Contributions of plantain to the income of farmers have continued to increase tremendously in the last few years. Unlike some other starchy food whose demand tends to fall with rising income, demand for plantain increases every day.

Since we are still having the blessing of rain this period, if you plant now, I tell you, you might not need Irrigation either manual or mechanical throughout.

Advise, based on my experience in this business, the cost of installing or setting-up and management is always on the higher side (Especially the mechanical). It can be so, even than the cost of setting-up the plantation itself.

It a plus to you having a swampy land. You will be in 7figures of money (millions) year in and out.

Imagine you have several heacters/acres!

At MAJORITY FARMS AND AGRO-CONSULTS, we can help you setup your plantain farm and manage it for you from planting till harvesting.

We sell an improved African Giant sucker at #100. You get a reasonable percentage discount when you buy larger quantity.
