MAJORITY FARMS AND AGRO-CONSULTS
PRESENTS YOU:
WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE-FARMER (2)?
WHAT WE'RE GIVING YOU TODAY
IS ABOUT CASSAVA FARMING
From my previous post, I skillfully analyzed how you can be a millionaire-Farmer with plantain plantation.
Now, let me show you a secret to become a millionaire-Farmer With TME 419 cassava plantation.
THE PARENTS OF TME 419 is now available in large quantity @ #570 /bundle (discount when you buy 300 bundles and above)
Why the parents of TME 419?
The parents give you high yield, much volume of starch content compare with the replanted ones that are common.
Check the attached picture for remarks from National Root Crops research Institute like IITA and the likes.
Note that the cost of cultivation varies from location. So take your time to find out the actual price of the items i will list in your location. This is just a guideline as we are in the farming season.
So the below analysis is what I can beat my chest for to work any where if you put everything in place.
Let's look at 2 hectares of land.
Now,
1. LAND PREPARATION FOR CASSAVA
Ploughing: this is the primary tillage to loosen or turn the soil.
PLOUGHING (single operation)/ acre = #10,000
5 acres = 2hectares
So #10,000 x 5= #50, 000
HARROWING: This is an implement for breaking up and smoothing out the surface of the soil. This operation is very important as far as cassava cultivation is concerned. The more the soil is loosened, the better the chances of having large cassava roots/tuber.
HARROWING (single operation)/ acre = #10,000
5 acres = 2 hectares
Therefore, #10,000 x 5= #50,000
2. SOURCING & TRANSPORTATION OF CASSAVA STEM
I plant and I supply TME 419 cassava stem. So from experience, 2hectares require 150 bundles of cassava stems.
A bundle of TME 419 stem cost #570 (Note, I give discount when you buy bulk quantity)
So cost per hectare/bundles will be
#570 x 150= ------------------ #85,500
Let put transportation @ #60,000
------------------------------------------------------
Total ---------------------------= #145,500
------------------------------------------------------
3. FIELD OPERATIONS
i. Spraying of herbicides:
An hectare requires 5litres of forceup chemical or any other @ #2000 per litre (this price can vary).
2 hectares will require
Therefore, 2 ( #2,000 x 5)= #20,000
Labour ----------------------------= #15,000
------------------------------------------------------
Total -------------------------------= #35,000
------------------------------------------------------
ii. Planting:
Cost of this operation per Hectare = #40,000
#40,000 x 2 = #80,000 ( it can be minus or plus)
iii. Weeding:
First w**ding occurs 6-8 weeks after planting and the price can be vary per location. This w**ding must be done manually because at this stage, cassava is yet to grow beyond the ground level.
An hectare cost #40,000 ( it can be minus or plus). So 2nectares is #80,000(this price can be minus or plus)
Second w**ding
This occurs at 3-4Months after planting. Depending on the nature of the farm; if manual w**ding is still necessary, it will be done but if covering produced by the cassava is much enough to hinder photosynthesis to happen to the w**d, therefore, considerably reducing w**d emergency. You can spray force-up to the BASE OF THE CASSAVA PLANTS NOT THE LEAF as the cassava would by then grew much above the ground.
Assuming we are applying chemical, at this point, we would not need much to apply. We need 6Lt for the 2 hectares
Therefore, #2,000 x 6= #12,000
Labour ---------------------= #15,000
-----------------------------------------------------
Total ------------------------= #27,000
------------------------------------------------------
Third w**ding
If it would be necessary, it surely will be chemical w**ding.
therefore, #2,000 x 6= #12,000
Labour ----------------------= #15,000
---------------------------------------------------
Total ------------------------= #27,000
------------------------------------------------------
HARVESTING & HAULAGE
Let's put this at #70,000 (It can be minus or plus)
NB: you can put 100k for unforeseen circumstances. This is for fertiliser application and boom spraying of pesticides for cassava field establishment.
Total investment= #574,000
NOW TO OUR PROFIT ON THIS INVESTMENT
An improved TME 419 Cassava would give you between 15- 20 tons per hectare
I don't know about your area, a ton of cassava is sold between 40-60k. In fact, it was sold at 80k this year.
Let's assume you get 15 tons per hectare as a worse case scenario.
15 x 2 = 30ton
Let's benchmark the price per ton at #40,000 as worse case
#40,000 x 30= #1,200,000.
Also, you would sell at least 15,000 bundles of cassava stems on your 2 hectares. This is a
assume you sell at the ridiculous rate of #400 per bundle.
So #400 x 15,000 = #6,000,000.
This is mission that is very possible.
I know some agricultural institutes like IITA and the likes that deliberately do cassava cultivation majorly because of Stems.
So your profit is simply output - input
Let's do the math:.
(6,000,000+1,200,000) - 574,000
= #6,626,000. Can you see what I saw?
Cassava farming business is known for its low input- high output nature.
Many industries in Nigeria use cassava as a major raw material so you don't have any trouble selling your products.
Cassava tubers is raw material for:
1. Noddles production industries
2. Alcohol and liquor production industries
3. Garri Factories
4. Cassava flour factories
5. Fufu producers etc
So when you want to choose an improved cassava variety, you should go for the one that gives you higher yield which is TME 419.
And yes, you get reasonable value inform of profit for your investment.
