These days, you hear many teachers say, “There’s nothing in this sector”—but is that really true?

At the Teach and Grow Rich Conference on Saturday, organized by , one of the key discussions was on teachers diversifying and exploring new opportunities beyond the traditional teaching setting.

There’s more for teachers beyond the traditional classroom. We need to understand this very well. You don't necessarily have to be a generalist teacher like every other person. You can be a specialist and earn more.

The problem here is that a lot of teachers are only familiar with conventional classroom teaching, yet there are emerging trends and lucrative opportunities within the education space, including:

✅ Special Needs Education
✅ Teaching in International Schools
✅ Online Teaching
✅ Artificial Intelligence

I can go on and on. The fact is - as a teacher, you must think right, position right and take the right actions.

Each of these areas has sub-niches that teachers can tap into, providing not just financial growth, but also career fulfillment.

As an Edu-Recruiter, I see many teachers struggling, not because there are no opportunities, but because they haven’t positioned themselves for the right ones.

Teaching is evolving, and so should teachers! You don't want to get left behind.

Are you exploring these opportunities?
Which of these areas interests you the most?

Let’s discuss in the comments!

BTW, the replay of the conference discussions is now available for sale. DM or reach out to .

The right information you need so you can scale this year is in that recording.

1st/2nd week - how has it been?

Dear Educator,

No one expects you to be perfect in all things!

Many teachers feel immense pressure to meet impossibly high standards set by school leaders, parents, and society.

This is a belief that can lead to unnecessary stress and burnout.

When someone points out areas for improvement, it doesn’t mean they expect perfection. Feedback is meant to guide growth, not to set an unrealistic standard.

The truth is, no one can actually achieve perfection!

The teaching profession is already challenging enough without adding the burden of impossible expectations.

Instead of striving for perfection, focus on progress.

Focus on being consistent, open to learning, and intentional about improving.

Always remember this as you move forward in this profession - Your value doesn’t lie in flawlessness; it is in your dedication and heart for your learners.

So, my dear teacher, breathe easy.

You’re doing an incredible job—imperfections and all.

You have two options!

If you have hired a teacher who is not delivering the results needed in your school based on shared information/expectations, first, relax.

It happens. What next then?

TRAIN the staff to see if you will notice improvements then keep coaching (independently or in partnership).

If no improvements after training, coaching and appraising such, you can let them go - CHANGE them.

If you don't, they will hurt your school. They will spread that 'virus', others will follow their footprint.

Evaluate before the term ends. Look the observations you made during your regular classroom walkthroughs. Then make your decision.

We are here to help as a trusted partner. You can send us a message, let's evaluate and train your employees.

Register for our Holiday CPD for your teachers. Let us work with you to reposition your school, attend to your identified needs and gaps during this long holiday.

Wait!

Just before you appraise your teachers (school employees), read this -

There are different categories of school owners -

1. The one who trains his/her employees and appraise them.

2. The one who trains but don't appraise.

3. The one who appraise without coaching or training first.

4. The one who neither trains nor appraise. They just continue and the only thing you'll always hear is complaints.

Which category do you belong?

Four things are quite important in the management of your employees -

1. Clarity

2. Coaching/Training

3. Appraisal

4. Accountability

If you have provided Clarity. Then you need to also create an avenue for staff training/coaching. As a new employee or one who has been with your school for a long time, they still need training. Then, you can set out to appraise them.

After the appraisal phase, you can hold them accountable.

What's your plan for the Summer Holiday? Any plan to train your employees (teachers and non-teaching staff)?

Have you read about MEC's Exclusive Teacher Workshops this summer?

We are going to be training on relevant topics that will help your teachers deliver the best learning experience to your students and thereby help your school grow.

This sounds nice to you? - send us a message now or click on our bio to register.

If you want your teachers/employees to be accountable, you need to train them first.

HERE ARE 4 THINGS EVERY SCHOOL LEADER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT RECRUITMENT

1. When you hire a new teacher, make sure you sort out all the necessary DOCUMENTATIONS .

Documents such as:

i. Offer letters/Employment Contract

ii. Guarantors forms

iii. Employee Handbook (if any)

2. Importantly, you must insist on a PROBATIONARY PERIOD of at least two to three months.

This period will allow you understand if the person is a good fit or not. You get to see if both parties can work together. It is also a time to train, refine and correct.

3. Ensure you have a proper JOB DESCRIPTION for each person you hire.

Your potential employee should know what you expect them to do.

4. Hire employees you can AFFORD to PAY.

The success of your school depends on your team (both teaching and non-teaching). Ensure your hiring processes are right. It is always expensive hiring new staff than retaining the talents you have.

Strive to build a functional school.

As a school leader, have you noticed a surge in the number of teachers resigning in your school?

Take time to answer these critical questions:

1. Do your employees have role clarity?

2. Are your employees starved of information?

3. Is your environment toxic and uninspiring?

4. Do you have a fair and competitive compensation and benefits package for your employees?

5. Are you allowing your employees to do their work without unnecessary interference?

You need to address these questions to stem the tide.
