Cause of Building coll∆psed in Nigeria.

If you don't want to experience this please come forward.

Always advice your client or client ask your engineer to go for soil test it will help to determine the bearing capacity of the soil you want to erect your structure.

The major cause is foundation failūrē.
We need to be careful when dealing with our foundation.

We have two major types of foundation.

-SHALLOW FOUNDATION
+ Strip foundation
+ Wide foundation
+ Pad foundation
+ Strap foundation
+ Raft foundation

-DEEP FOUNDATION
+ Pile foundation
+ Diaphragm walls
+ Displacement foundation.

This are the foundation you need during your building work.

Now in bungalow or two storey building that is common in our society.

The engineer or builder have to choose the foundation from his experience from the shallow foundation.

But you are advised to go for soil test if the structure is above two storey building .

The cost of running a Soil test is not upto 1% of the total amount in used in erecting a structure.

Don't just choose foundation above two storey building always go for it and reduce the rīsk of coll∆ps.

So always go for best not giving your work to mason men.
