Some Real Estate Terminologies
• Appraisal: this can be defined as determining the value of a property. This can be done by comparing the sales price of properties in that area.

• Amortization: is the process of combining both interest and principal in payment, rather than simply paying off interest at the start. This allows you to build more equity in the property early on.

• Inspection: are required once a potential buyer makes an offer. The purpose is to check that the property is in good shape.

• Due diligence: is a period of time where a buyer fully examine a property, often by hiring experts to inspect the property, perform tests etc so that a buyer may decide on how to proceed.

• ROI( Return On Investment): refers to the measurement of the net profit of an investment property, relative to its total cost. A high ROI indicates favorable yields for the investor.

Many people have gained financial independence by investing in different forms of real estate, it is advisable to pick a niche and focus on it. No form of real estate is better than the other, so just pick the one you understand and invest in it.

Before diving into the different forms of real estate investment that may be available to you, you should know that most real estate investors do not purchase real estate directly in their name. Most investors purchase their investment using a limited liability company or limited partnership.

The following are the forms of real estate:
• residential: residential structures are properties such as houses, apartment buildings, town houses and vacation houses where a person or family pays you to live in the property.

• Commercial: commercial properties consist mostly of office buildings and skyscrapers. If you were to take some of your savings and construct a small building with individual offices, you could lease them out to companies and small business owners who would pay you rent to use the property.

Industrial: industrial real estate consist of everything from industrial warehouses, storage units, car washes or other special purpose real estate that generate sales from customers who use the facility.

Retail: retail properties consist of shopping malls, strip malls and other store fronts.

Mixed-use: mixed-use properties are those that combine any of the above categories into a single project. For example a mixed use 3 storey office building surrounded by retail stores....
