For homemade feed from maize, beans and groundnuts, you could fry the beans and groundnuts before and after grinding then add the maize later. This is to remove chemicals that could irritate the chickens to cough. I research everyday because no one has a monopoly of knowledge. Some people may ask why the stress? The cost of one bag of commercial feed is twice the homemade and have more nutrients.

FARMERS MORNING TONIC

Seven (7) Weeks Pure Organic for your birds

0-1 week is the most critical time for your birds, so you must be on alart.

Early morning shot of Itagiri till 6weeks
Later serve below concoctions;

1 cup of garlic

I cup of ginger

1/4 cup of Turmeric

Half of 1/8 cup of cayenne pepper =1 tbs

Half of 1/8 cup of black pepper= 1 tbs

After blending all together, 30ml will go into a litre of water. Just give a little concoction that they will finish on time.

Serve ordinary water when they finish this. Little.
Every liquid in little portion.

In the evening serve bitter leaf, a low dose, 10-15ml in a litre of water after blending it.

2weeks
Repeat the process but skip a day or two of garlic/ginger/pepper to give fresh water only. Do not skip bitter leaf, continue with a low dose

3week
Repeat the process but don't skip bitter leaf in the evening. Increase the dose, like 20ml of bitter leaf to a litter of water.

4weeks
Repeat the process, don't skip bitter leaf, increase the dose to 30ml into a litre of water

5 weeks to end of 6weeks;
Basil (Cent leaf)/ginger/black pepper
340g of basil
340g of ginger
half of 1/8 cup of black pepper
half of 1/8 cup of cayenne pepper
*30ml into a litre of water
This is to ward off Fowl pox, fowl cholera, Bronchitis, Newcastle, E coli etc

In the evening,
you may serve just bitter leaf if you notice coccidiosis is still attacking them or you serve fresh water.

At the end of 6weeks weeks stop Itagiri

7 weeks, you may serve black pepper and cayenne to keep Newcastle in check. You may add aloe vera to the pepper or serve aloe vera alone in the evening. There is no herb-herb contraindications

Note: you may wish to know how to calculate the volume to be use:
1 cup =240ml=340g
2/3 cup=227g
1/2 cup=120ml=170g
1/3 cup=113g
1/4 cup=85g
1/8 cup=43g.

KITCHEN TIPS From Africa

1. Never store Onions and Potatoes together because both produce a gas that causes either of them to spoil quickly.

2. Put two or three orange leaves in your hot palm oil on the fire. Let the leaves turn black before removing it. By then your palm oil becomes pure groundnut oil also giving your food a nice taste.

3. To avoid feeling a peppering hotness on your hands after cutting pepper with bare hand scrub your hand with salt and red oil then wash it.

4. If you happen to over salt a pot of soup, just drop in a peeled potato. The potato will absorb the excess salt.

5. If your Soup or Stew goes sour while warming it, add little piece of Charcoal and remove after warming, the taste will come back.

6. Never put citrus fruits (oranges, lemon, lime, etc) or tomatoes in the fridge. The low temperature degrades the aroma and flavor of these fruits.

7. When storing empty airtight containers, throw in a pinch of salt to keep them from getting stinky.

8. If your salt is becoming lumpy, put a few grains of rice in with it to absorb excess moisture.

9. To reuse cooking oil without tasting whatever was cooked in the oil previously, cook a 1/4" piece of ginger in the oil. It will remove any remaining flavors and odors
