Most couples may have come to terms with the fact that language (what is said, how it is said, what is heard and how it is received) is very important in marriage. However, we may not be able to comprehend the extent to which it significantly influences the quality and longevity of our marriages.

The language in any marriage will determine the realms of possibilities a couple can experience.

When a couple has the same language and speak with one voice, they can create a more rewarding and fulfilling relationship. This leads to a healthier and more enduring marriage.

Today, we share together the glow of Christmas; a season that reminds us not only of joy and love, but of the incredible power we each hold to make a difference.

Christmas is more than a date on the calendar. It’s a call to action; to lift others up, to spread kindness without hesitation, and to believe that even the smallest act of love can spark a chain of hope.

This year may have brought challenges, but here we are stronger, wiser, and still standing. That is something to celebrate. The spirit of Christmas tells us that no matter how dark the night, there is always light ahead. And that light begins with us.

Let’s not just enjoy the season; let’s live it. Let’s be the reason someone smiles, the voice that encourages, the hand that helps. Because when we choose to give from the heart, we create a ripple that can outlast the season and change lives.

It was such a blessing sharing with the Men's Fellowship of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Peace Sanctuary on Marriage Finance.

I shared on the importance of financial unity, communication, and stewardship in
marriage. The practical insights and biblical
perspective on managing finances, reducing debt, and building wealth were not left out. I also emphasized the need for husbands to be responsible leaders in their homes as the provision for the family and the protection of the family are some of their responsibilities.

In all, I'm forever grateful to God to be a blessing to His people.

I was honoured to speak at the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship couples program yesterday about the challenges of having a sole breadwinner in the home and how to build cohesion in homes in these challenging times.

Below are some of the things I shared with them.

A sole breadwinner in the home is the person who goes to work, earns wages, and cannot afford to leave their job because everyone in the family depends on them. Historically, industrialization assigned men to this role, while women were relegated to domestic production. However, over time, women began to participate in production for the broader community, becoming sole breadwinners in some cases. The problem arises when these women are still expected to bear the entire weight of household responsibilities.
The challenges however, are:

1. Extreme stress due to the enormous demands placed on them.
2. Health challenges, as stress affects mental health.
3. Strains on marriage, as the sole provider may become irritable due to insufficient earnings, prioritizing work over family, and impacting the children's understanding of provision in marriage.
4. They children take on the concept of provision in marriage from what is obtainable in their homes.

However, marriage is designed to be a partnership, not a solo endeavor. Two people are better than one, as they will receive a good reward for their labor. While the man is strategically responsible for providing for the household, he is not without a suitable helper to make his role easier.
