Unbelievable Effort and Successful Completion!!!
As we strive to get portable drinking water in big cities across Nigeria and Africa in general, it is critical to get involved in the joint battle against water pollution either as a private individual, real estate firm, environmental regulatory bodies, policy makers etc. Why you may ask – it affects ALL of US. According to report, only 19% of Nigeria’s population has access to safe drinking water (The Conversion.com, 2017).
For Individuals – Cost of:
• buying bottled/sachet water,
• water treatment
• hospitalisation due to cholera and related diseases
• eventual death of a loved one due to contaminated water
For Housing Development
• Obnoxious Odour
• Environmental Nuisance
• Disease outbreaks
The onus is on both Private Developments & the Government (regulatory bodies/policy makers) to get intrinsically involved. Innocent citizens are being scammed of their hard-earned money due to the lack of knowledge about what a Sewage/Wastewater Treatment Plant should be. According to Nigeria Global Waters Strategy Country Plan 2023, this would need a citywide inclusive strategy that integrates both centralised and decentralised solutions provided by many sources.
Basic Knowledge about Sewage/Wastewater Treatment Plant you MUST consider when investing in one:
• Quality of the Effluent – the applicable standard/discharge consent
• Odour
• Cost of Maintenance
• Ease of Maintenance
• Consideration given for future expansion.
Protection of our Water Bodies remains non-negotiable. Invest Wisely!!!
