*7 Tips To Help You Answer The Interview Question, "tell Me About Yourself" *.

When people ask you: “Tell me about yourself,” how often do you see their eyes glaze over before you finish your answer? You can bore an interviewer to tears with an autobiography that drones on, detailing all the places you’ve worked and jobs you’ve held.

This most common question really contains within it two other questions of key importance for you to immediately address: “Why should I care about you?” and “What is your value to me (or my company)?” Don’t get bogged down with rambling recitation of your work history. The best answer is your value statement, commonly thought of today as a personal branding statement.

An effective value statement conveys the kind of person/professional you are, what drives you and why those things matter. It isn’t just what you have done professionally, but your demonstrated passion for doing those things that will propel your conversation forward.

The following are seven key parts of a succinct branding statement:
1. Begin with your name. “I’m John Doe.” Then move on quickly.

2. Identify your current profession or main focus. Relate a major element of what it is that you actually do when you’re at your job in a very simple sentence. This is not the time to talk about your job title, where you work or how long you have been doing whatever it is that you do. For instance, you might say something as simple as: “My main focus as an accountant is counting widgets.”

Paap strongly advocates for the present tense, to talk about who you are today. Statements like “I’ve been widget counting for 32 years,” or “I’m transitioning into accounting and can’t wait to start adding up widgets” are not as relevant or forceful.

If you haven’t had a job doing whatever it is that you are applying for, Paap advises that you quickly do something related to it. Take a course. Volunteer. Do an internship. Even after you’ve been doing something for a short period of time, you can honestly say you are doing it. Leave the details for later. You want to convey that you are the type of person required for the job.

3. Transition. This is the time where you roll out your passion for what you do. Figure out what it is about your role that really excites you. Show you enthusiasm with a “What I love to do is…” sentence. Examples:

“As a widget maker, I love getting all the mini-widgets lined up to make a great big widget.”

“I love working with the people in my team and helping to move our process of widget organizing forward.”

These kinds of statements demonstrate that you are highly motivated and really care about what you do. Evidence of these traits provides assurance to a hiring manager that you not only can do the job, but also that would you would be a great personality fit.
4. Who you help. This is where you demonstrate who benefits from what you do. Paap reminds his audience, “Both Apple computers and Mother Teresa help people … they just help in very different ways.”

Boil it down to something really simple like: “My widgets help cure sick people,” “My widgets help people to be more creative” or “My work helps my team.” All are ways of helping. By demonstrating who benefits from what you do, you begin to effectively convey your value.

5. Target your audience. Strive to understand your audience, and tailor your message to them. Your work might benefit a plant manager, a supply chain supervisor or a CEO, among others, in different ways. Figure out what about your work would be most important to the person you are speaking with, and talk about that. By taking the time to identify his or her issues and concerns, you can plant the image in his or her mind, “This person can help me and my company.”

6. Accomplish a goal. What do you help people to do? Rather than listing a whole series of things, distill it down to a single important thing. Example: “I help my company save money.” A clear simple sentence invites a question to go into more detail and engage in a conversation.

7. Show emotion. Figure out something about your job that gives you a good feeling, and convey it, even if just with a smile. When you show an emotional identity with the work you do, you demonstrate how you fit into a company’s culture.

When you answer the “tell me about you” question with a value statement, you demonstrate your professional qualities, build interest in you as a person and increase the chance of beginning a meaningful dialog. Then, you are well on your way toward ending your interview with success.

What Do The Color Marks On Toothpaste Tubes Mean?

Most of the time we don’t notice the color coded markings that are found on everyday items sold in stores. While they appear on many products, on toothpaste tubes there’s a popular myth that they identify what the toothpaste is made of.

For a while now there’s been an “urban legend” online that users have shared, saying that the colors on the base of toothpaste tubes indicate what they’re made of and how damaging they can be for your health. But the information contained in post after post is completely false; and in today’s article we’ll try to clear up what these marks really mean, and whether it’s more than just a simple color.

According to the now-viral misinformation that’s circulating the web, toothpaste tubes have a different colored square or rectangle at the end of the tube, opposite the opening. This color varies from brand to brand and supposedly indicates that the product is made up of as follows:

Green = Natural products

Blue = Natural and medicinal products

Red = Natural and chemical components

Black = Purely chemical components

Well, as we already said at the beginning of the article, this information is completely false and just another urban legend to frighten people. Because the purpose of this site is to give you as complete information about health as possible, we want to explain what these colored marks really mean, and why you should pay any attention to the alarming posts you read on the internet.

Gran Imperio Group delivers pilot scheme under EssentialHomes product, plans 2,000 units in 24 months

IN an attempt to proffer effective real estate solutions and set new standards for efficiency in achieving housing dreams of Nigerians, a Lagos-based private developer, has launched a new concept for homeownership, which will offer ‘affordable yet upscale homes’ to prospective individuals and corporate organisations. The product is known as EssentialHomes.

The concept, being test-run with 100 units in The Southpointe Estate, on a sprawling city of Lafiaji, off Orchid Hotel road, after 2nd tollgate, Lekki, Lagos State, out of which 70 units are fully finished, is breath-taking.

Gran Imperio Group will also deliver 5 hectares in Southpointe II consisting of 196 units of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom bungalows.

There is also 1.9 hectares in Golden Leaf Estate, which upon completion will accommodate 72 families, with 72 units of 3 and 4 bedroom bungalows. A 26.5 hectare land has also been secured to construct 848 housing units of all bungalows in Y’hello Estate, on Lafiaji, Off Orchid Hotel Road, after 2nd toll gate, while a 90.4 hectare land within Abraham Adesanya Estate on the Lekki-Ajah corridor is planned to add 554 housing units to the Nation’s housing stock. This development would be known as The Grand Lake. At Oworoshoki under Oworoshoki Redevelopment Scheme, 200 families would have opportunity to subscribe to any of the 200 units of bungalows.

All these developments are exquisitely finished, spiced with a magnificent ambience, air conditioning, good quality finishes, adequate parking, private garden, AstroTurf football pitch, swimming pool, fitted kitchen among other recreational facilities.

Specifically, these estates have been conceptualized as medium but upscale residential schemes, targeted to redefine the Nation’s housing industry in a significant way. At the moment, EssentialHomes projects are currently ongoing in 4 strategic locations – Lekki, Ajah, Oworo and Abeokuta. Infrastructural facilities that come with the scheme are roads, walkways, streetlights, CCTV, purified water, central sewage system, 24-hour power supply.
And for those who cannot afford to raise the cost of any of the units priced at N7,950,000, N11,950,000, N14,950,000 and N18,950,000 for one, two, three and four bedroom units within 1 year, GIG has put in place mortgage facilities with financial institutions like Imperial Homes Mortgage Bank, A*o Savings & Loans, Zenith Bank, FCMB among others. In fact, Imperial Homes provides flexible mortgage options between 5 and 20 years at 14%.
At the moment, organised private sectors from some blue chip companies have come together under cooperatives and groups in order to take headlong the housing challenges for a lot of the employees.

Financial institutions backing the scheme are Imperial Homes Mortgage, Zenith, FCMB and Heritage Banks. Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the development company, Mr. Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said at the press briefing which was organized by the company on Thursday 12th June 2014 at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, that his passion to relief the burden of homelessness among middle-class level Nigerians was one of the reasons his company decided to undertake EssentialHomes, adding that his firm had been able to deliver the first phase, as promised in less than 180 days.
“We came out with the concept to simplify construction of residential homes in January, and work began on site in February and judging from the volume of enquiries we get on daily basis, I can say this product has been widely accepted in the market.”

According to him, “our aim is to showcase our efforts over the last 100 days towards the delivery of our affordable housing units as promised earlier this year and the plan for expansion in order to meet the tremendous needs of the markets. We are also here to foster participation and dialogue between relevant stakeholders including the media, mortgage institutions, banks, subscribers and potential subscribers of our EssentialHomes products, in a joint effort to reduce the housing deficit in Nigeria.”
The event brought together stakeholders including the media, mortgage institutions, banks, subscribers and potential subscribers of EssentialHomes products.
To make the project more competitive and viable, Ogunwusi said GIG had acquired land bank through joint ventures with some cooperatives of multi-national companies and had constructed a 3.8 km access road, which would further boost development along the Lekki corridor. The access road, Ogunwusi said, would add value to their estate Golden Leaf and Y’hello Estates, which have been recently reloaded and keyed into the scheme.

He added that, with those units ready for occupation, it would now be easier for his company to manufacture similar feat in other locations and beyond, adding that, EssentialHomes, which is easy to build, is good for both the young and old.

On the Oworoshoki scheme, he said his company has an understanding with a royal family in conjunction with the Lagos State Government, which he said has given it permits to construct a link road and walkway, infrastructures that would drive development along that corridor. “Our product is coming finished. Our strategy for the next 24 months, is to have this product all over Lagos for the middle class sector of the people”, he enthused.
For would-be homeowners, who may want to get their apartment in two or three years time, Gran Imperio has a programme known as ‘Rent-to-Own Housing Scheme’ for them.

Chief Operating Officer (COO), Taiwo, said: “This is a flexible housing savings scheme for tenants of Essential Homes that are anticipating buying their own property in the next two-three years. An initial deposit of 25 percent is required to key into the scheme. Once a subscriber makes up to 50 percent deposit, he or she can move in and continue saving for the house in form of rent monthly.” He hinted that the rent accumulates until the payment for the house is completed; adding this also guarantees a 5 – 7% rental yield to investors interested in buying our products while we provide potential tenants for their units.

5 PROBLEMS DUE TO LONGER ENGINE OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. (Photos) - Car Talk

It is not without reason that we call engine oil the lifeblood of the engine. And it is not necessarily for just the reason that oil runs through the engine. It is called so because the engine oil performs several critical functions that assist in maintaining optimum engine performance and maximizing engine life as well as cooling the engine. And it is necessary to follow oil service intervals as recommended by the respective manufacturers of your brand. To ignore or extend the oil service intervals will lead to several risks and we list some major ones.

1. Increased sludge and oil soot levels.

One of the main duties of engine oil is to keep the engine parts running smoothly by collecting and suspending the dirt particles. By extending the oil change interval, you also increase the amount of soot (mass of impure carbon particles resulting from the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons) in the oil that will inadvertently cause sludge, thus decreasing the engine’s ability to work efficiently.

2. Reduced crankshaft bearing life.

The reduction of bearings’ life will be reduced through many factors including fuel dilution, coolant leaks, abrasive wear and corrosion. With extended oil change intervals, the levels of abrasives, fuel and coolant increase in the oil thus leading to removal of the bearing overlay and cause damage to the bearing linings.

3. Damage to engine.

Missing the oil change interval will lead to engine damages, resulting in minimizing engine durability and safety. Extended oil change interval will also lead oil contamination eventually leading to loss of engine power.

4. Cam shaft failure.

To lower emissions, manufacturers have been continuously improving cam metals, hardness, surface finishes etc to increase fuel injection pressures. If the soot in the engine oil goes overboard, the abrasive wear between rocker shaft and rocker bearing will increase leading to rocker arm failure.

5. Increased metal particles in oil.

When you extend your oil drain interval, the metal particles suspended in the oil also increase along with the kilometres your engine does.

The smartest and the most legitimate approach to escaping insufficiency, mediocrity, obscurity, lack and stagnation is to identify opportunities and do all we can to utilise them.

A major difference between very successful people and those who are not so successful is recognising opportunities when they see one. Opportunities present themselves every day in our lives. Opportunities don't show up once in a while in fact, you practically swim in opportunities especially if you live in a country like Nigeria, the only problem is; you can't recognise these opportunities.

The reason many can't recognise great opportunities is because they already have a preconceived way by which they expect their opportunities to show up and unfold.

Many times when people want something, they already have their minds set on how it should come, when it should come, from whom it should come and the way it should come.

Most times if there's any major alteration in any of these fixed expectations, they wouldn't recognise it as the opportunity they've been waiting for.

You want a job in a particular kind of organisation judging by how much you hear they pay, anything other than that is a no, no, even if a different organisation offers lower remuneration but superior prospects, exposure and experience; simply because it's not marked by the same monetary appeal, it's not a good opportunity.
