A Letter to the Friend Who Stayed
by Faith James
Dear Friend,
You came when the laughter had faded. When the room was quiet and the world had turned away, you stayed.
You didn’t ask me to explain the tears that made no sense. You didn’t rush to fix what was broken. You simply held space a rare kind of grace that only true hearts understand.
You saw the parts of me I tried to hide and didn’t flinch. You listened to the same story, told a hundred different ways, because you knew I wasn’t repeating pain — I was trying to release it.
You loved me without noise, without promises, without pretending. You showed me that friendship doesn’t always need words; sometimes, presence is the loudest form of love.
And when I doubted myself, you reminded me gently you are still worthy, even now.
So this is my thank you.
For staying when others grew weary.
For seeing me, really seeing me.
For being the calm in my unraveling.
You are more than a friend.
You are the quiet miracle that taught me love doesn’t always have to shout to be heard.
I see you sister.
With love,
Faith 🤍
