About the Role

Dowealth Training & Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a reputable and growing Eye Hospital for an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic, operational and administrative leadership across the hospital.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient hospital operations, excellent patient experience, effective workforce management, financial and resource optimisation, quality and compliance, and sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership for the hospital's day-to-day operations.

Coordinate clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

Drive patient experience, operational efficiency and service quality.

Oversee hospital budgets, cost control, procurement, inventory and equipment.

Monitor HMO/insurance operations, revenue collection and financial performance.

Lead workforce productivity, performance management and staff accountability.

Ensure compliance, quality assurance, risk management and patient safety.

Monitor operational and financial KPIs and provide regular reports to Management/Board.

Develop strategic partnerships, referral networks and business-growth opportunities.

Work closely with the Medical Director and Management/Board to achieve the hospital's strategic objectives.

Requirements

This is a senior hospital-management position. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Minimum 10 years' professional experience.

Substantial, proven experience independently managing hospital operations.

Previous experience in a senior hospital-management, hospital administration, healthcare operations or equivalent executive role.

Demonstrable experience managing people, resources, budgets and hospital operations.

Strong understanding of healthcare finance, HMO/insurance, procurement and operational systems.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to demonstrate measurable operational or organisational results.

Role Description The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Nigeria, responsible for overseeing day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of Eye Care Hospital. The COO will manage operational workflows, optimize patient flow, and ensure that departments such as outpatient services, surgical units, and support functions run efficiently and safely. This role includes leading budget planning and resource allocation, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing process improvements to enhance quality of care and operational outcomes. The COO will collaborate closely with the executive team and clinical leadership on strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance, and long-term business planning, while mentoring managers and staff to uphold a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Qualifications

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on inclusive and respectful leadership.
Knowledge of hospital regulations, quality standards, and patient safety practices; experience in eye care or specialty hospitals is an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Finance, or a related field; a relevant master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MHA) is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work on-site and adapt to local healthcare context and cultural environment in Nigeria.
