Sometimes, some business partners can almost cost you to lose clients if not handled well.
About 2 months ago, a client whom I registered his company with CAC chatted mw up to ask if I do SCUML. I told him yes. I actually take SCUML job from clients and outsource it. Of course, I could do it myself on their website but then approval takes ages, so, you may actually need an insider to facilitate it and that I do not have. So, when I get SCUML jobs, I give it to those who have insiders to handle, and all the time, there has not been issues. So, I gave the SCUML job to one of those who I have worked with previously.
The client asked me when it would be ready, and according to the agent it should be ready in about 10 working days, so I gave the client that timeline and we were hoping on that..
Two weeks later, I hadn't heard from the agent, so I called him, his number wasnt going through, so I asked in a mutual group and I was told he was involved in an accident that even cost him his legs. Wow! I got his new contact and reached out to him. Of course, I didn't mention the job anymore because I felt really concerned for him, but then he told me he had to give the job to someone else to handle after his accident. Okay.
Because the timeline I gave the client had elapsed, he kept calling and asking about his job. At a point, I had to tell him the situation of things and he understood.
Another two week had passed and no news about the SCUML, so I called the agent again and asked, and he told me the job was almost ready. Hian! I called the client and told him.
The client called me after a few days and said the SCUML is actually needed urgently because his bank account manager needs it to update his company account so that the account won't be frozen. He kept calling every day and each time I kept calming him down.
Two days ago, he called that he lost a contract as a result of that SCUML not being ready. Money can not be paid into his business account because of the issue and the company awarding the contract refused to pay into his personal account. That was how he lost the contract. He then asked me when the SCUML will be ready, I told him honestly, I didn't know and he asked for a refund if the agent cannot deliver. I felt pained though that he had made a loss as a result of me not delivering his job as at when due, but I assured him he would get his refund.
I called the agent and demanded a refund since the job is taking too long and he did refund and I sent it to the client.
I am not pained because of the refund actually, I feel pained because I felt more like I failed the client. I hate not being able to push a business deal to fruition. Well, I am glad I was able to get his money back to refund him sha and I have my peace back. I wish the agent quite recovery. Losing a leg to accident is a very big deal. May God see him through.
