A QUICK AND SIMPLE BUSINESS PLAN FOR COCONUT BUSINESS
A special dwarf breed of coconut seedling is 8k.
A plot of land will take 20 stands (adjusted).
20 stands will cost you 160k.
You will need about half a bag of fertilizer (or 5 bags of palm kernel shell) or both for that one plot.
Half a bag of NPK fertilizer is about 30k.
5 bags of palm kernel shell is about 5k.
If you can't plant it yourself, you might need to pay 20k for labour.
Total expenses amount to N215,000.
If you do this in ten plots of land (that is 200 stands), you have N2.15M spent.
INCOME
The coconuts start fruiting after three years.
Each tree produces a minimum of 150 heads per year.
It produces optimally for at least 30 years.
Each head of coconut sells for 500 - 800 naira.
Let's work with a very conservative estimate where yours produces 100 heads per year, and you sell one for N500 only; you will have:
200 Γ 100 Γ 500 = N10M per year.
Multiply that for 30 years = N300M.
Remind me how much you invested in the business π€£
N2.15M, but in the first fruiting year(third year of planting), you make ten million naira, and in 30 years, you make 300 million naira.
I know you will spend money on weeding each year, applying additional fertilizer each year and maybe a little money on harvesting (but don't forget this is a dwarf breed and so harvesting is easy), but the cost is negligible.
Coconut farming doesn't incur recurrent expenses.
You literally plant it and forget about it, only to come back for harvest in three years.
This simple business plan is on the assumption that you already have land.
So if you have empty plots, tell me why you are not doing this already.
