As a business owner or a marketer, you will certainly want to utilize the power of social media to boost your business. The problem is, there are a lot of social media handles for brands that are left uncared for.

Do you think the audience will come?

The fact is, if you don’t care, nobody cares.

A good machine has no power if you don’t maintain its engine. Social media has no power if you don’t maintain its content.

Building a website or running an ads for business on social media is not a hard task, but getting it on top condition to engage with audiences is absolutely the problem.

That’s how I started searching for possible solutions to this and later found one, that's why I'm sharing this great idea with you guys to improve your social media marketing and increase engagement. Let’s dive in right now.

1. Creating valuable contents: this is the first thing to ever do and it is not just any content. It has to be something unique and catchy. It must be a content that benefit people, appealing and entertaining.

In a nutshell, the content has to be valuable, be it in the form of text, photos or videos.

Note: Always accompany your content with a visual graphic.

Internet/social media is about building communication and connection. So, your content has to engage with the target audience.

This means, your content shouldn’t be hard-sales advertising. Even if you want to advertise your product, do this only once in a while or only when there’s new thing to introduce.

If you are doing this often, it will not become informative or interesting anymore. People will not engage or even worse, clicking the unfollow button, because it is not interesting and becoming boring. People get tired of things easily. Make it something they crave for that whenever it is dropped or posted, they rush it like hmmmm......

2. Growing followers: this is very essential. Otherwise, your content and brand will go unnoticed. In opposite, having a large number of followers means more communication, more connections, more shares, more awareness to your brand and finally, more revenues.

But how can we increase the number of followers?

You can try these tricks:

Create a valuable contents then post.
Get everyone in the business including employees to share the contents.
Get them to share about the link to social media once in a while.
Get them to invite their friends or followers to join the handles.
Use photos or videos or hashtags.
Do these continuously. You will notice an increase on the social media followers.

Be on multiple social media platforms
The reason is your business and brand need to appeal to a wider audience. Each social media has its own characteristic. Different platforms will attract different people. There are people that is active on Twitter but not on Facebook or on Linkedin but not on Instagram.

Another advantage in getting on all platforms is, you can test each of them and will find out which one works best for your business, brands and customers.

Be responsive
Your social media followers will post comments or questions. Make sure you provide fast feedback.

If you have not been able to answer, a general feedback should be posted first, such as “Thanks for the question, we will provide an answer within … hours”. This will create an impression that your handle is active.

Someone in the company is there to offer support.

Be consistently active
Don't you know that social media also acts as your front-desk customer support? In this case nothing comes worse than inactivity in social media.

You need to stay updated and reachable at all times. This is why you need a planned schedule to always post regularly so that your audience feels you are always there to contact.

If you do this right, you will improve engagement with your audiences.

Some social media including Facebook and Twitter allow you to track the statistics. For other non-analytics platforms, you can try third party apps to track them down.

You need to pull out these data and analyse them. You will know which topics brought a lot of comments, likes and topics that are not being liked. This data will help improve the performance of your social media strategy in the future.

An online business is a business mainly put on the internet. This may encompass selling goods and services. Currently, we are in the world of internet and many businesses and commerce are now on the internet. Some of the internet businesses don't really require big CAPITAL to start. All it takes is knowledge, passion and persistence to carry on.

Lets look out to these steps before building an online business.

1. Know and Learn your idea: here, you need to ask yourself some certain questions like; what business do you want to start?, Ecommerce, News portal, directory or services..!

2. Research the online market: You should try to learn the basic of getting online, the markets, what trends and Technology. Read some trusted blog or pages to broaden your knowledge. Get responses from different people to validate your business idea. Write down important things in a document for future references.

3. Learn about digital marketing. Website, blog, social media, online advertising and SEO, all these could be your challenges. Get your products or services online so people will be aware of your business and create sales.

4. Know your competitors: Here, you need to search and learn about existing competitors either online or offline. How many people are already in the business, how big are they, and how you can compete with them. Bring out the uniqueness of your products or services because it is the very key to your business ideas.

5. Define your target market/customers: Customer targeting is a strategy that breaks a large market into smaller segments to concentrate on a specific group of customers within that audience. It defines a segment of customers based on their unique characteristics and focuses solely on serving them.

Instead of trying to reach an entire market, the selection of potential customers to whom a business wishes to sell products or services.

6. Calculate your capital: before starting, you need to know your pocket. Size of your pocket might not be big enough to Kick start your business idea. You can consider having one of these online skills and monetize it. You can inbox me to get online skills and begin to make money.

7. Create your online business plan: After all these pre-startup tips, try to document them.

First, the hardest part in the beginning of a startup business is getting the idea that works. The truth is, it may pop in all of a sudden, but anyway, we are obviously talking about finding the right idea that does not exist in your locality and make it a business concept that works for people.

A well planned business idea is an intersection between problem solving and market opportunity.

*So, how do you come up with a new startup business ideas?*

1. Know what problem you want to solve for people in your locality, analyze it and bring out solutions to solve the problems. You need to look at your environment closely and discover problems that is/are facing them. Move very closer to people in your locality and try to notice when saying "I wish I could", "I wish there will be", write them down. You might need it for a business idea later.

2. Making a better life: everyone actually wants a better life but not everyone wants a change. You can enlighten this behavior. The best way to do that is by creating something that is fun and easy to use. For example, you can innovate or bring in tools to ease people's life.

3. Creating a healthy lifestyle: everyone is now asking out how to live or have a healthy lifestyle. Do your research, you will definitely see something that help people improve their healthy lifestyle.

4. Money and Financial: here, people loves to make money and you hold on this as opportunity and think of various ways relating to money making that benefits people.

5. Clarity and Motivation: we all know what world we all live in now. We are living in a confusing and unstable world. If you can find ideas to solve this, you are on the track to good ideas. You can be their life coach, mentor, trainer, etc....

You know what? These are just general business ideas suggestions to spring you up. As human beings, we all have our own talent, skill, experience and passion. The best way to research a good business startup ideas is to look within you, know yourself and be yourself. You need that passion to keep the business in the long run.....
