Something happened last week that sounds like a scene from a movie, but according to reports, it is a real-life story.
There is an Anglican church in Awka, Anambra State, known as All Saints Anglican Church.
A young member of the church reportedly approached the priest and other church leaders with an offer to renovate the church building as a way of thanking God for answering his prayers and appreciating the church for supporting him during a difficult period in his life.
He reportedly told the church leaders that he wanted to re-roof the entire church building and that he would personally cover all the expenses.
He asked the church to find out how much it would cost to replace the roof and also instructed them to hire carpenters to remove the existing roof and wooden structure so the new one could be installed.
The carpenters were brought in and began removing the old roofing sheets and wooden materials.
However, after the old roofing materials were removed, the young man reportedly gathered them together and sold them to a scrap dealer for ₦67,000.
He then allegedly instructed the carpenter to go to the market, purchase the new roofing materials and wood needed for the project, and call him once everything had been purchased so he could transfer the money directly to the sellers.
The carpenter reportedly went to the market and purchased the required materials, which amounted to ₦987,000.
He then contacted the young man to make the payment.
To the carpenter's surprise, the man's phone number was no longer reachable.
The carpenter reportedly contacted the church leaders, only to discover that they had also been unable to reach the young man and had no idea where he was.
As of the time of writing, All Saints Anglican Church is reportedly still standing without a roof, even though we are
currently in the rainy season. 😭💔
