Yesterday marked a significant milestone for TrashCollect as we held our First Scavengers Training at Rigasa, Kaduna.
It was a day of learning, collaboration, and community empowerment.

We were honored to host respected dignitaries who graced the event with their presence and wisdom, including:
– The Hakimi, who spoke on the importance of community collaboration.
– A renowned Imaam, who offered the opening prayer and blessings.
– The Chairman of the Scavengers Association, who encouraged unity, cooperation, and collective growth.

The training sessions covered:
– Maintaining cleanliness while working.
– Staying safe during waste collection.
– Increasing income through proper sorting and crushing plastics.
– Improving work ethics, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.

There were also media and photo sessions, interactions with the community, and inspiring moments shared among participants.

TrashCollect remains committed to transforming waste management, empowering scavengers, and building healthier, cleaner communities.
This is only the beginning and together, we move forward.

Last Saturday during our community cleanup, I picked up a plastic bottle and almost threw it into the same bag with food waste.

Then someone stopped me and said, “Wait! That one can be recycled.”

That simple correction opened my eyes. I realized not everything we call “trash” is truly waste. Some of it can live again as chairs, blocks, bags, even clothes!

Since then, I’ve learned to sort my waste:
🟢 Plastics in one bag
🟡 Paper in another
🟤 Food waste separately

It’s a small effort that makes a big difference. Imagine if every home, school, and street did the same our city would be cleaner, greener, and more sustainable 🌍

Sorting waste isn’t just cleaning up it’s building a better future.

This week, let’s do better. Sort it. Recycle it. Save the planet.

Many years ago, our nation fought for freedom freedom to build, to dream, to live with dignity. Today, that same spirit of independence calls us to rise again, but this time the enemy is different: trash, pollution, and neglect of our environment.

Imagine a young child walking to school, stepping carefully to avoid litter on the streets. That child deserves to walk proudly on clean ground, just as our heroes walked proudly into freedom. Independence is not just about waving the flag it’s about choosing responsibility, protecting our land, and giving future generations a clean tomorrow.

Every plastic bottle picked, every street cleaned, every hand that joins in… tells a story of unity and hope. When we clean our environment, we are not just removing dirt we are writing a new chapter of independence. A chapter where freedom is not only political, but also environmental and social.

Let us be the generation that didn’t wait for “someone else” but stood up and said:
Our independence means we are responsible for our land.
Our environment is our pride.

Our freedom is incomplete if our streets remain polluted.

On this Independence Day, pick up a piece of trash. Inspire one person to care. Lead one child to value the earth. Together, we will build a cleaner, greener, and prouder nation.

Because true independence begins when we can live in a country we are proud to keep clean.
