Today I represented at and ‘s training.
Apart from the amazing small chops I was given at the event, I learnt the importance of telling the story behind your business.
Before moving back to Nigeria in 2013, I had had high hopes of earning at least 250k per month on my first job, and living the baby geh life, but thanks to the Nigerian economy, I was earning barely 50k per month, 19,800 from NYSC and 20k from my PPA. It was during this period of depression that was birthed.
For the first two years, we organised parties for orphans in motherless homes. People wondered how I did that with my 19,800 salary, but it wasn’t about me, it was about the : we all shared responsibilities: one person brought drinks, another snacks, others entertainment.
and many others came through for the kids.
Two years later, having a party didn’t seem to be cutting it for me, and so I started the project, we had mobile mentoring sessions for young adults across Lagos and Ogun states.. CHARM worked well, children absolutely preferred interacting with young adults that they felt they could relate better with.. and we were excited about the growth.
Yet, something was missing... and so I re-evaluated again. How can we be mentoring young adults that do not have access to basic education? Our objective of solving societal challenges by bridging the gap in education in line with (quality education) wasn’t been achieved.
And so was birthed. We started pairing volunteers with school children at the verge of dropping out. Education for us became both within and outside the four corners of the classroom.
But our story didn’t stop there.. now something new is brewing 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Just watch out
