NEED FOR FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGISTS IN THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE
Forensic psychology, as defined by the American Psychological Association, is the application of clinical specialties to the legal arena.
Whenever a crime is reported to the Police, the first question will be; who did you suspect? My question is who did you want me to suspect than someone I thinks is my enemy. The police question is a leading one and shouldn't come from an investigator, sometimes, this may help but many at times, it fails like a pack of cards. Many suspects have been wrongfully convicted for a crime not committed. When a witness is called upon during court proceedings, he is expected to say what he had seen. Many witnesses only assume what they saw and not what they see, in this case, you are going to have misleading information from the supposed witnesses thereby making all testimonies and examinations hostile.
A costly investigative procedure activated by the supposed law enforcement officers is the reason for the experienced miscarriage of justice. it is believe that "pure and cleanliness of specimen obtained from a crime scene is a necessity to a correct interpretation of laboratory analysis.
This we believe will further strengthened the judiciary in the passage of justice and allay the fear of wrongful conviction in future.
