Have you ever wondered why we value people more after we lose them?
Why we assume there will always be another call, another visit, another “I’ll do it later”… until later never comes?
Loss doesn’t warn us.
One day they’re laughing with us.
The next day, we’re wishing for just one more moment, one more chance to say what we kept postponing.
The painful truth is this: We take people for granted because we think time is guaranteed.
Until death reminds us it isn’t.
Loss brings tears, anger, and questions even questions for God.
But it also brings a message we can’t ignore: Life is fragile. Breath is borrowed. Tomorrow is not promised.
Death becomes a mirror, asking us: If today were your last day, would your life reflect love, purpose, and God or regret?
The Bible says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Wisdom to love now.
Wisdom to forgive quickly.
Wisdom to return to God while we still can.
If this loss has made you reflect, don’t scroll past it.
Call someone.
Make peace.
Pray again.
Come back to God.
Because one day, someone will be asking the same question about us.
