Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the "Here's my Two Cents" series by where I'll talk about different things regarding businesses and/or business owners that I observe or experience from time to time.

Today, we examine structure, expectations, and the role systems play in shaping behaviour, especially in people-intensive businesses. If you’ve ever felt frustrated doing what you thought was “right” and still getting the wrong outcome, this one would resonate.

You don't have to choose between being humane and being effective as a business owner, the challenge comes from not putting necessary boundaries in place because without boundaries, generosity can quietly create problems we don’t see coming.

Many times, the issue isn’t people.
It’s the absence of clear systems and boundaries.

Happy new year people!!!!!

Just here to quickly remind you that, things don’t magically change because January came around.. Like the quote on the second slide says, you determine what the new year will bring by what you bring to the new year..

I know we have all decided to be audacious and “cut our coat oversized” this year. But before you do that, kindly ensure that your systems and structure can carry what you want to build.

If you are unsure, your first audacious task for 2026 should be structuring your business.. don’t work hard to have it all wasted at some point. Tell yourself the truth and GET TO WORK!

From facilitating sessions on Entrepreneurship and Innovation for the Ladies in Tech program created by the Unilag Design Studio Innovation Hub to sitting in a room with lovers of Poetry and Creative Arts for Conversations & Cocktails with to heartwarming hugs and fun conversations with old and new friends, singing along to old school music and dancing my heart out at Wale Onigbanjo (& assistant celebrant)’s 40th birthday party, I must say I had a very full and surprisingly replenishing weekend!

One of my goals this year is to socialize more and even though I still don’t strike conversations with new people as much as I’ld like, I’m glad I get to show up for my people more….

Thanks to everyone that made this weekend such a beautiful one.

P.S- No personal pictures from Wale’s party because I was too busy singing and dancing to even touch my phone 😂🤭

This week in Nigeria, the atmosphere has been so thick with emotions regarding incidents concerning 2 powerful women ... and I can bet that there are thousands on unknown women who have faced varying levels of harassment as well.

It's International Women's Day today and many fancy events and activities have been rocking the airwaves since March started. All events notwithstanding, I really hope that in line with this year's theme: ACCELERATE ACTION, we actually act quickly and leave the empty words and gestures in the trash where they really belong.

How can you ACCELERATE ACTION in your own way?
- Speak up!!! If you see any form of harassment or injustice happening in your space, speak up!

- Listen when people are talking about issues that they have faced and don't even try to blame victims. Ndi "what did she do to warrant it?" "why is she just talking now?" and co..... 🤦‍♀️🥴

- Support a lot more capable women to run for office on different levels!!!

- This one is to women, support fellow women INDEED and cut them some slack! The load is already very heavy and that you are carrying yours well doesn't mean others are lazy.....

There are definitely other ways to ACCELERATE ACTION, but let's start with these.

P.S - we also need to quickly drop that lazy rhetoric of women being each others' greatest enemies, IT'S A BIG, FAT LIE and it's holding too many of us back from enjoying beautiful and uplifting friendships and connections with other women!!!

It’s my birthday today, and I struggle to find words….. I am just immensely grateful that I am here, and for the JOY I feel…

Many things have happened to me this year that I am eternally grateful for, I have experienced God as a good, good Father…… felt his embrace physically several times this year to show me that He’s with me. I entered a new level of vulnerability with the Father and I am so grateful to THE ONE WHO SEES ME TOTALLY AND STILL CALLS ME HIS OWN.
