Episode 12: The Last Keeper
The Final Archive was silent.
The twelve empty chairs surrounded the glowing table.
A voice echoed through the chamber:
"Only one who seeks truth more than power may become the Last Keeper."
One by one, beams of light fell upon the twelve members of the Dominion Circle.
Each stepped toward a chair.
Each was gently pushed back.
Then the light fell on Selene.
She confidently sat down.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then the chair slowly turned to stone.
Selene stood in shock.
"The Archive has judged," Keeper Orion said quietly.
"It rejects anyone who seeks control instead of service."
The light faded from the other chairs.
Finally...
A single beam rested on Ayo.
He did not move.
Keeper Orion smiled.
"Why do you hesitate?"
Ayo looked around the chamber.
"I don't deserve this because I'm better than anyone else."
"I've made mistakes."
"I've been afraid."
"I've doubted."
"I still have much to learn."
The chamber grew brighter.
The voice spoke again:
"Humility is the doorway to wisdom."
Keeper Orion nodded.
"Now... sit."
Ayo slowly took the twelfth chair.
The moment he sat down, every book in the Archive began to glow.
Pages turned by themselves.
Voices from generations past echoed through the hall.
Builders.
Teachers.
Mothers.
Farmers.
Children.
Leaders.
Their stories filled the chamber like a great chorus.
Ayo realized the Archive held more than history.
It preserved the lessons of ordinary people whose courage had shaped the kingdom.
Then the largest book in the room opened.
On its final page, new words appeared.
They were not written by an ancient king.
They were written now.
"The Hidden Crown belongs to every person who chooses truth over lies, service over pride, courage over fear, and love over hatred."
Tears filled Ayo's eyes.
He finally understood.
The Hidden Crown had never been about one family, one throne, or one hero.
It was an invitation.
An invitation for every generation to build a better future through character.
Selene quietly lowered her head.
