Following the flood alarm sensitization by the Kwara State Government's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Executive Chairman of Edu Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro, on Friday, through the Media Team and Communications Unit, issued an urgent warning to residents of communities in Lafiagi, Tsaragi, and Shonga, particularly those living near water banks, to kindly vacate the area for safety or exercise extreme caution ahead of the forecasted flood disaster.

Stressing further, the Council Chairman commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, CON, for prioritizing the safety of lives and properties of Kwarans at all times. He added that the safety of the residents of Edu Local Government Area is a top priority for the Council, and the Council will always maintain their safety. Therefore, he urged the good people of the LGA to adhere to the announcement to avoid potentially distressing consequences.

In a special appeal to parents, the Council Chairman emphasised, "We understand that farming is a vital source of income for many in our Local Government Area. However, please do not endanger the lives of your children by sending them to farm alone, especially where they need to cross rivers or work near riverbanks. Their safety is paramount to us. Please, don't take risks with their lives."

In conclusion, the Council Chairman implored community heads, religious leaders (Muslims and Christians), community-based associations, schools, market leaders, and individuals to support the campaign for proactive measures to mitigate risks and ensure safety head and during the forecasted flood.

Security Boost: Nigerian Police Air Force Helicopter Lands in Edu LGA.

In a bid to enhance security in Edu Local Government Area, a Nigerian Police Air Force helicopter landed at Gbugbu Primary School on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The helicopter touched down at 1:20 pm, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to address the security challenges plaguing the region.

The area has been grappling with a surge in kidnappings and other security-related incidents in recent times. The abduction of two businessmen from Ndeji community a few weeks ago which were later released after a huge amount of money was paid to secure their release, coupled with the kidnapping of several Fulani individuals, has heightened concerns about the safety of residents.

Following the landing, according to the eyes witness, the Policemen proceeded to Gada, where a meeting was held with a Fulani group. The meeting is expected to discuss security matters and potential strategies for enhancing safety in the region.

The deployment of the helicopter is part of a broader effort to bolster security in Edu LGA. Authorities are working to ensure the success of these operations and restore peace to the affected communities.

EDU LGA FLAG-OFF: Council Chairman Commends Governor AbdulRazaq for Provision of New Tractor and Farm Inputs

Charges Distribution Committee to Ensure Fair and Transparent Allocation to Local Farmers

The Executive Chairman of Edu Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro, has extended heartfelt commendation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his continued commitment to agricultural development through the provision of a brand-new tractor and vital farm inputs. These resources, facilitated via the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, aim to combat food insecurity and enhance food production across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony of the distribution exercise held on Sunday at the Edu Local Government Area headquarters in Lafiagi, and ably represented by the H.O.D, Agriculture, Mallam Mahmud Muhammad Adam, Hon. Ndamangoro congratulated the newly inaugurated leadership of the Kwara State Farmers Welfare and Support Committee in Edu LGA, led by Hon. Mohammed Ibrahim Ladan.

He charged the Committee to ensure transparent and equitable distribution of the inputs and to ensure the new tractor is strictly used for its intended purpose, in a manner that upholds the vision of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state.

"Our appreciation would be incomplete without acknowledging the critical roles played by the State Project Management Unit (SPMU), as well as the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Environment, and Water Resources, for their coordination efforts," he said. "We also recognize and appreciate our stakeholders for their regular support."

In a bid to strengthen the council's activities and security operations in Edu Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of Edu Local Government Council, Hon. Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro, has purchased and presented vehicles to the Vice Chairperson of the Council, the Speaker, the Director of Personnel Management (DPM), the Treasurer, and also distributed motorcycles to vigilantes across the 10 wards of Edu LGA, the police, DSS, Civil Defence Corps (Area Command), the Edu Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, and others.

In his opening remarks, the Council Chairman thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, for the opportunity he gave them to serve and for the trust their people have placed in them. He also appreciated the management system of the Local Government, starting from himself as the Council head, the Vice Chairperson, the DPM, Development Officer, HODs, and every functionary of the Council. He further expressed that the Council had deemed it fit that most of the management staff be able to do their job freely, which was why the Council, through the support of the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, purchased these Toyota Corolla vehicles for the Vice Chairperson, DPM, Treasurer, and the Hon. Speaker of the Legislative Council. "Please, ensure that the management of these vehicles is in order; manage the vehicles and perform maintenance as at when due, so that they will serve for as long as we want.
