Electric motors work by converting electrical energy to mechanical energy in order to create motion. Force is generated within the motor through the interaction between a magnetic field and winding alternating (AC) or direct (DC) current. As the strength of a current increases so does the strength of the magnetic field. Voltage must increase in order to maintain the same current as resistance increases.
The electric motor works on the principle of magnetic effects of current. Its principle is when a rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and current is passed through it, the coil rotates as a result of the forces acting on the coil.
Electric Motors have an array of applications. Conventional industrial uses include blowers, machine and power tools, fans and pumps. Hobbyists generally use motors in smaller applications requiring movement such as robotics or modules with wheels.
