What if I told you that having a registered business does not automatically mean your business is compliant?
Many business owners hear the word COMPLIANCE and think it is a complicated legal term.
Let me show you some examples.
1. When you enrol in a school, there are rules and responsibilities you are expected to follow. As long as you follow those rules, you are complying with the school's requirements.
2. Imagine you get a new phone.
Buying the phone doesn't keep it working.
You still have to charge it, protect it, update it and take care of it.
If you ignore all of those things, the phone will eventually develop problems.
Business is no way different, it works the same way.
Every business has certain laws, rules and responsibilities that apply to it. When you meet those requirements, your business is staying compliant.
In simple terms, compliance means doing what your business is required to do according to the laws and regulations that apply to it.
Depending on your business, this may include filing annual returns, filing taxes, obtaining the necessary licences or permits, keeping proper business records and meeting other legal obligations.
Not every business has the same requirements, but every business has responsibilities.
Compliance is not about making business difficult.
It is about keeping your business on the right side of the law, building credibility and ensuring you are always ready when opportunities come.
A registered business is a great first step.
A compliant business is a business that continues to meet its responsibilities.
