This man is crying after receiving 265 job rejections.
Do you believe that the main reason you are still jobless or have faced multiple rejections in your business proposals to donors is due to not having a properly designed CV or proposal?
I was speaking at a conference in Ibadan during a youth program convention where 65% of the youths were jobless. In the process of interacting with them, I asked if they had a CV, and 85% of them responded yes. I then asked if they had their CV with them, and some of them presented it on their phones. We selected a few to review, and to my surprise, they all had a well-formatted CV, but it was not compelling enough for a recruiter to make a judgment and decision on whether to employ them or not.
This situation applies to millions of job seekers out there seeking employment. Yes, you are a graduate, you have some work experience, and you have certifications from top industries. But having these qualifications is not a guarantee of getting a job if you don't have a compelling and well-crafted CV to showcase to hiring managers.
Your CV is your ticket to advance yourself to any level you want to reach in life. It is a document you will use to impress recruiting managers and convince them to give you an opportunity to work in their company. If you fail to meet this standard, you will continue to be among the unfortunate group whose CVs keep getting rejected for every job they apply for.
This principle also applies to NGOs and small business owners seeking funds from donors. It's not enough to write dozens of pages and expect donors to provide funding for your cause. There are millions of donors, even within your local community, willing to donate their time, money, and wealth to your organization. However, no one will listen to you if you can't impress them. Donors are not interested in lengthy documents you present to them. You need to be smart and apply certain principles if you want to be successful in raising funds for your organization.
