Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district at the national assembly, says it is impossible for him to impregnate Oluremi Tinubu, who represents Lagos central senatorial district, because she has already “arrived” menopause.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Melaye refuted reports that he threatened, during a closed door session of the senate on Tuesday, to beat up Tinubu and impregnate her.

He said he did not use any insolent, abusive, or degrading language when the disagreement ensued.

“It is malicious and a lie that I said I would impregnate Mrs Tinubu,” Melaye said.

“Biologically, it is even impossible to impregnate Mrs Tinubu because she has arrived menopause. How can you say you want to beat somebody and at the same time impregnate the person.”

Melaye explained that he only told the senate that since it had passed a resolution saying that its rules were not forged, senators who went to court should withdraw the case of face suspension.

“Unfortunately, Senator Oluremi Tinubu got up and was recognised to speak and immediately she started speaking, she specifically mentioned my name, “he said.

“For reasons only known to Senator Remi Tinubu, she got up and the first thing she said was that she was being harassed in this chamber by Senator Melaye at this point.

“She went ahead to say that why would he come here and be threatening senators and there was a large chorus from senators. At that point I was still calm. She got up again and said that this thug must be tamed. At that point, I got up and told her that she was very stupid.

“The next statement from her was ‘You are a dog’. She called me a dog, and when she called me a dog I stood up and reacted and I told her that this was not bourdillon and she should look at my face, I am not one of those senators who normally come to prostrate to them in bourdillon and I am from Kogi —and not from Lagos.”

He also said that there was no talk about the reported impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Somehow she got falsehood sold to SaharaReporters; nobody among those of us who spoke there talked about impeachment. The issue of the presidency was not the subject matter. But because of deliberate wickedness and satanic manifestation, they brought in the issue of presidency to garnish their aim and purpose.”

Ahead of the November 16 Governorship Election in Kogi State, Associate Editor, Sam Egburonu and James Azania, in Kogi, report on the current moves made by the candidates of the two leading parties, Governor Yahaya Bello of All Progressives Congress and Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party to win the election

SINCE Governor Yahaya Bello won the primary election to fly the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flag and Musa Wada emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), observers have been curious to know how the choices will affect the fortunes of the two leading political parties in the Kogi November 16 Governorship Election.

The Nation investigation during the week shows that two major issues today remain very critical in the determination of who, between Bello and Wada, will win the election. They are the way the two parties handle the allegation of non-performance by Bello’s government and the zoning game that is playing out smartly between the two parties.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the dates for
conducting rerun elections for the Sabuwa State Constituency, Katsina
State and Kogi West Senatorial District.

Dino Melaye and Smart Adeyemi will slug it out in the rerun on November 16.

According to a communique from INEC, the commission met on Monday to
consider the timetable for the elections.

The electoral body fixed the 30 November 2019 for the conduct of a
Katsina by-election, while the 16 November has been scheduled for the
rerun of the Kogi-West senatorial election.

According to INEC, the Kogi rerun election will take place
simultaneously with the Kogi governorship election fixed for November
16 as that of Bayelsa State.

Adeyemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Kogi
West senatorial district election, last August said his party was not
afraid of a rerun.

He said this while commending the judgment of the election petitions
tribunal that sacked the lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Dino
Melaye.

Justice Anthony Chijioke-led panel of the Kogi State election
petitions tribunal had ordered a fresh election in the senatorial
district.

In his reaction, Senator Adeyemi noted that as a student of law, he
had always believed that the court is where those who have been
cheated get justice.

He insisted that he would reclaim his mandate in the rerun ordered by
the tribunal, stressing that he has built the image to win the
election over the years.

The two-time senator compared himself to Melaye who contested the
election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said, “We are not afraid to go for a rerun because the people can
assess the two personalities. They know our antecedents, they know our
track records, they know who we are and what we stand for.

However, Melaye, in a comment that generated heated debates online,
considered Adeyemi as his 'political wife' that he would beat in the
forthcoming election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Wednesday, advised the Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to “accept defeat”, ahead of the November 16 governorship election in the state.

PDP counseled Bello to read the “handwriting on the wall, do himself good by accepting defeat and stop wasting public funds on fruitless campaign.”

The party claimed that it already has the “support of over 70 percent of registered voters in 18 out of the 21 local governments across the state, even ahead of its official campaign flag-off ceremony in Lokoja on Friday, in preparation for PDP’s inevitable landslide victory at the November 16 governorship election.”
