Jerry Thomas was born in 1830 in Sackets Harbor Bay, New York. He was known as "The Professor." He’s currently considered the father of modern cocktail making and the first “flair bartender” in history. That is, the first bartender who made the art of pairing drinks a spectacle creating the first flaming cocktail in history, the Blue Blazer, which consisted of whiskey and water alone.
