Not every immigration update affects thousands of people but for some families, this one could be life-changing.

IRCC’s temporary public policy for certain previously undeclared family members is scheduled to end on September 10, 2026.

Normally, when applying for Canadian permanent residence, applicants must declare all family members, whether they are accompanying them or not. Failure to do so can have serious long-term sponsorship consequences.

This public policy created an exception for certain eligible individuals, allowing them to sponsor some family members who would otherwise be excluded. However, this opportunity is not available to everyone and depends on individual circumstances.
