Is it just me, or are there others out there who can no longer pray for themselves anymore...given everything that’s happening in this country? I know I can’t. Truth be told, I’ve never loved praying for my nation. Whenever we’re asked to pray for Nigeria, I either say a short, two-sentence prayer with no enthusiasm, or I say nothing at all. I used to think it was the government’s responsibility, not mine. But lately, all I pray for is Nigeria. because how can I pray for myself when there are babies out there in the bush? something must be wrong with me—I can’t even find the prayer for “self” in my spirit.
I’m not saying this so everyone will start praying because I am, and I know some already are. I’m saying this so we can all do this together, in one accord. Not each church declaring its own days to fast and pray, but the whole body of Christ coming together to lead us in prayer. To the leaders of every association in Christ, please the real ones come together and lead us in prayer. People out here say you aren’t doing anything. Well, come and do this. Everything can be done online or virtually now, so it wouldn’t be hard to achieve. I know we can do it. If we come together in one voice, one cry, at the same time, same hour, something must move. I know this because I know my God is not deaf!
I’m not that far along in my faith, but I tell you I know something about oneness, togetherness. In Genesis 1:26 God said, “Let us…” There is power in unity. The Bible also says we stand together and fall divided (Of course, we know the criticisms that have been exchanged between different denominations or churches). There is something heaven responds to when hearts truly unite. Maybe this sounds childish to some people, but this is honestly how my spirit feels.
Please, heads of the bodies of Christ, can this be achieved? I know it can. Let’s do something different...this is what we are known for!!!...
Is it possible for all denominations of churches to come together, set aside a month or however long the Spirit leads, with no sermons, no titles, no competition....just prayers for Nigeria every single day within that period, together
