CULTURAL CARNIVAL SHOWCASES NATIONAL INTEGRATION AT NYSC ORIENTATION CAMP, AKWA IBOM STATE.

2026 Batch B, Stream 2 Orientation Course Cultural Carnival in Akwa Ibom state was successful and amazing.

The State Coordinator, Mrs Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu presided over the event. She enjoined camp officials and Corps members to always remember that cultural remains a veritable tool for national integration, holistic development , peace, unity and tourism.

Results announced by the Panel of Judges:

(A) Inter - Platoon Filling the bottle competition.
*1st position - Platoon 7
*2nd Position - Platoon 1
* 3rd Position - Platoon 10.

(B). Inter - Platoon Cooking competition.
*1st position - Platoon 8
*2nd position - Platoon 10.
*3rd position -Platoon 4.

(C). Best Royal Adore King & Queen.
*1st Position - Platoon 4. ( Igbo).
*2nd Position - Platoon 9 ( Tiv)
* 3rd Position - Platoon 3 ( Ijaw)

( D). Cultural Carnival
*1st Position - Platoon 5 ( Gbagi Culture ).
*2nd Position - Platoon 4 ( Igbo Culture).

Highlight of the event was presentation of cash prizes to the winners.

CORPS MEMBERS CHARGED ON RESPONSIBLE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu has mandated Corps Members to use the social media responsibly and avoid actions that may land them in trouble due to improper behaviour.

He said cyber bullying, online fraud, identity theft, data breach, cyber stalking among others, are part of the offences that may lead them to prosecution.

The DG gave the charge while interacting with the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream Two Corps Members in Yobe and Jigawa State Orientation Camps.

He also warned them against engaging in partisan politics, stressing that NYSC is a non-partisan organization.

"Don't insult anyone on the social media. Don't join politics and if you are caught as a Corps Member participating in partisan politics, you will be querried".

"Desist from all forms of political engagement during your service year", General Nafiu said.

He further advised the Corps Members to be security conscious in their environments, and thereafter disclosed that the Scheme does not post Corps Members to security challenged areas.

While presenting his Orientation Camp report to the Director General, the NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mr Okochi Okpara said 1,029 Corps Members comprising 572 male and 457 females, who were registered have been participating in all Camp activities.

Similarly, his Jigawa State counterpart, Alhaji Bala Mohammed Baba informed General Nafiu that the 1,186 Corps Members comprised of 681 males and 505 females on camp were well-behaved, diligent and ready to contribute their quota to the development of the State.

2025 BATCH 'B' STREAM II CORPS MEMBERS TO PASS-OUT SEPT 3

Management of the National Youth Service Corps hereby announces that the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Corps Members would be passing-out from National Service on Thursday, 3rd September, 2026.

All Corps Members, Employers and other stakeholders of the Scheme are enjoined to take note of the date.

Meanwhile, Certificates of National Service would be distributed to Corps Members on the scheduled date at the Local Government level.

CORPS MEMBERS WARNED AGAINST MISCONDUCT

Corps Members have been warned to conduct themselves within the provisions of NYSC by-laws and the constitution of the country.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave this caution while addressing the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream Two Corps Members deployed to Kano and FCT at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Karaye.

He said any Corps Member that indulges in any act that could dent the image of the Scheme and, or the nation would not be spared by relevant sections of the NYSC Bye-laws.

"You are expected to become brand ambassadors, representing the NYSC, your families, and the institutions you graduated from", he said.

He also advised the Corps Members to use their education to think logically and creatively by contributing their quota to national development.

General Nafiu implored them to spend their time wisely and indulge in activities that would add value to them while serving.

"Don't waste your time. Upskill yourselves, find out those skills that are essential in line with your course of study and acquire them".

"Promote positive contents that can promote the culture and values of your host communities and the Scheme", he added.

While wishing them a successful Orientation Course and an eventful service year, the Director General advised them to always seek approval from the NYSC State Coordinator if they must travel out of their State of service for whatever reason.

In her Orientation Camp situation report to the Director General, the NYSC Kano State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Abdulkarim Abubakar said 2,428 Corps Members comprising 1,024 males and 1,404 females were registered.

She added that they have all exhibited loyalty, dedication, and adjusted to the regimented camp life, with officials' teamwork serving as the foundation laid down for a great feat.
