I believe it is important to understand in the coming days that the protests will either take on new gear or fizzle out. It’s just inevitable. Nature abhors a lack of focus and direction! Moreover, the protests have employed only one tactic without any apparent strategy: Block the roads, make the government uncomfortable and force through our demands.
Yet any good student of strategy will relate to the quote above. Our present approach will win the battle but will make us lose the war. Already, we are turning public sentiments against the protests.
There are a thousand and one ways to ensure we win this war. Yes, don’t be deceived, This is a war and it will be a long one cos change is difficult and people, especially those benefitting from this status quo will resist strongly.
We have 2years and 5 months till the 2023 elections. Let’s make it count. Mass mobilization. Consistent educating of voters and issue-based campaigns. Vetting and pushing forward credible individuals. Starting small!
We won’t take the presidency, no. But we will start by taking good seats and representations in the house of reps and the senate. We will push bills, develop road maps, and force reforms. It won’t happen in a day, yes, but with consistent efforts and unshakable belief, we will get there!
