Nigeria’s solar growth is moving fast, and the numbers from 2025–2026 show just how far things have shifted.
Over 2.9 million solar panels were imported in 2025, and solar now contributes about 1,000 MW, nearly 25% of grid output.

With the Net Billing policy introduced by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, users can now sell excess solar power back to the grid, changing how energy is produced and shared.
