How to drive traffic to your website in SHORT easy steps (part 1)
1. create a useful post/page/guide on your website. This could be anything from information about your industry, product, competitors, or staff. The most important thing is that it must be useful to a large number of people, and it is prepared in easy to share formats - audio, video, graphical guide, short article or a combination of these.
2. Use social media to promote this useful content on your website: Depending on your target market you could use either, fb, LinkedIn, or twitter, it doesn't matter if you don't already have large fan/follower base, each of these social channels have 'paid' promotion options and you can start with as little as $100 and see results. The important thing here isn't the amount you are spending but how well you target your promotion so the right people (who are most likely interested in your business/website) will see it.
tip: for example your own a bakery and your products range from cakes to bread, your target market need your product for celebration, gifting, family time. These people can be found under broad categories such as married, religious (church/mosque), entrepreneur/business, manager (or some other organizational role). Using fb page, boost this post feature, you can target these people according to their interests, which you can estimate by doing a search for this on fb : interests liked by people who live in london, united kingdom and like cake. The result shown are broad categories liked by people in that geographical location who are most likely to be interested in cake.
You can also target people whom you have previously interacted with by email before, your contacts (I will discuss this in another mail)
3. Have an opt-in form (newsletter sign up form) on your website, this helps you build a list of website visitors who will like to keep in touch with you. You can encourage sign ups by asking for it at the end of your useful article (I mentioned in step 1 above)
4. Repeat the above steps for every new content (article, video, audio, guide, product) you place on your website, the key is to make sure your content is relevant to the type pf people you want visiting your website
