Why do people fall victims to this kind of scam? I receive this type of messages daily. Could it be greed or ignorance? Kindly share your thoughts.

My name is MRS.TERIZA WILLIAM, we are of the United Kingdom ( UK ) , nationalized here in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.I am married to Late Eng. Eric William, who was a contractor in the mining sector Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso .He died after a brief illness that lasted for
only five days. Since his death I decided not to remarry again.
I am writing this mail to you with serious tears in my
eyes and great sorrow in my heart.
I need a very honest and God fearing person who can stand and claim this sum of 10,000,000,00 Million US dollars, deposited in the bank here in ( Burkina faso ) by my late husband before he died. I want you to use this money for , Charity organizations, orphanages, widows and other people who are in need.
Presently this money is still in the bank here. My late husband, made this money
available for exportation of Gold from Burkina mining. Recently, My
Doctor told me that I would not last for the period of seven months
due to a cancer problem. The one that disturbs me most is my stroke
sickness. Having known my condition I decided to hand you over this
mission to take care of the less-privileged, you will utilize this
money the way I am going to instruct herein. I want you to take 30
Percent of the total money for your personal use While 70% of the
money will go to charity work" helping people in the street.
