Guinness just put ₦400 million where its loyalty talk is.

A ₦1 million daily giveaway. A car as the grand prize. Not a discount, a reward. And that's the part most brands miss: a price cut spends your margin, a prize mechanic spends the same money but manufactures a story people repeat to each other for free.

This week's Marketing Desk breaks down what "Open For More" actually teaches brands operating here about loyalty that isn't cheap, it's memorable.

Swipe for the full breakdown, plus what we're watching on the side.

What's the last brand promo that actually got you talking? Drop it below.

Three streets away from your shop, someone just got your supplier's contact.
Next month they are selling the same thing. 10% cheaper.

If your only competitive advantage is that you have stock right now, you do not have a brand. You have an inventory problem waiting to happen.

The brands that survive copycat markets are not the ones with the best product. They are the ones that built something a competitor cannot photocopy overnight.

Proprietary storytelling. Deep customer community. Superior distribution partnerships.
That is what a brand moat looks like. And that is exactly what we help brands build.

Is your brand defensible right now? Or could a competitor replicate it tomorrow?

Nigerians watch product review videos almost as much as music videos. Most brands are still building content strategy around the wrong assumption.

New data from GWI and DataReportal (Digital 2026, Nigeria) shows what internet users aged 16+ actually watch online each week. Comedy and music lead, no surprise there.

But product review video sits at 45.7%, ahead of livestreams, tutorials, and sports content.
Influencer videos and vlogs, the format most brand briefs default to, sit at just 18.6%, near the bottom of the list.

The takeaway for growth-stage brands: audiences aren't rejecting branded content. They're rejecting content that doesn't help them decide. A well-made product review or comparison video is doing more work in this market than a lifestyle vlog with a product placement bolted on.

If your content calendar is 80% entertainment and 20% product, the data says you have that ratio backwards for this market.

Recruiters are not waiting for you to be ready.

87% of them are already on LinkedIn, searching, scrolling, and deciding who gets noticed and who gets skipped.

The uncomfortable truth is that most people lose opportunities not because they are unqualified, but because their profile never gives anyone a reason to stop scrolling.

I wrote Stop Being Invisible on LinkedIn to fix exactly that.

A practical guide to build visibility, attract opportunities, and grow your career, built for NYSC corps members, students, professionals, and entrepreneurs who are done being overlooked.

This is not theory. It is the exact framework I used to go from invisible to getting noticed.

Not every hero wears a cape. Some wear work boots, worn-out cardigans, or that one cologne you'll always recognize from across a room.

This Father's Day, we're celebrating the ones who fixed what was broken, taught without lecturing, and showed up even when no one was watching. The quiet strength. The unspoken sacrifices. The love that never needed a microphone.

To every father, father figure, and man who chose to show up: thank you. You built more than you'll ever know.

Tag a dad who deserves to see this.
