Does Using AI to Pray or Study Make You Less Spiritual or Less Intelligent?
Let’s clear the air:
Using ChatGPT to pray, study the Word or any interest of yours, or grow in spiritual understanding does not make you less spiritual—or less intelligent.
In fact, when used with the right intent, it reveals wisdom, not weakness.
AI (like ChatGPT) is a tool—an accessory of wisdom—created through the minds of humans made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).
And God?
He is the source of all knowledge, creativity, and invention.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above…” — James 1:17
The real issue is not the tool—it’s the motive behind its use.
When someone uses ChatGPT to pray, the prompt they type is an expression of the heart—and God judges the heart above all.
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
“All a person’s ways seem right to them, but the Lord weighs the heart.” — Proverbs 21:2
God once spoke through a donkey (Numbers 22:28), a burning bush (Exodus 3:4), a pagan king (Isaiah 45:1), and even wrote on a wall to reach man (Daniel 5:5).
So who are we to say He cannot use a digital tool to reveal truth, deepen intimacy, or guide a seeking heart?
"Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” — Acts 10:15
“God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.” — 1 Corinthians 1:27
Some fear AI because it is said that the enemy uses it. That’s true. But if the devil is using digital systems for evil, then why aren’t God’s people using the same systems for good—to reclaim territory?
Afterall God gave us dominion.
“My people perish for lack of knowledge.” — Hosea 4:6
“I have seen servants ride on horses and princes walk on foot like slaves.” — Ecclesiastes 10:7
It is not unspiritual to use technology wisely.
It is unwise to avoid it out of fear, pride, or shallow tradition.
So no—praying with the help of ChatGPT does not offend God.
What pleases God is your intent(your prompts from your heart) your faith, and your hunger to seek Him.
Use what is available.
Ask boldly.
Type sincerely.
Study deeply.
And let your heart be the altar
